England U21s take pride of place in our acca
Football fans are given a solid interest on Friday, thanks to a busy schedule from the Irish Premier League. There’s also two matches in the U21 European Championships to work with, including England vs Sweden. Will the Three Lions cubs live up to the heroics of their World Cup winning younger brothers?

England U21 beat Sweden U21
Looking to feed off the success of the U20 team winning the World Cup, England go into Friday’s tie knowing they have never lost to Sweden at this level of football before. The last meeting of the pair came in this tournament back in 2015, when Jesse Lingard scored the winner in a hard-fought 1-0. The side is littered with established stars, Nathan Redmond dropping back in, after making his senior debut against Germany. They boast the bulk of experience, and England start us off at a very attractive 3/4.
Poland U21 beat Slovakia U21
Poland are favourites for this match, and we must say they deserve to be. This will be the first competitive meeting between the pair, and Slovakia show the better recent form, going in on the back of a solid recent run, but we’re happy enough to oppose. Poland haven’t been quite so impressive of late, but they held their own against Italy pups, going down 2-1 earlier this year, and a similar showing should be enough here. 21/20 joins.
Dundalk beat Drogheda
Dundalk may be on the road, but they have been priced like losing isn’t an option in this Irish Premier League match. The picks are sitting towards the head of the table, and although they won’t get near runaway leaders Cork over the course of the season, they are on a solid run of form. Opponents Drogheda have found positives difficult to come by. 3/10 on the away win makes sense.
St Pats beat Bohemians
This will be the second meeting of the year between these sides, with St Pats strolling to a comfortable 4-0 win in the reverse of this fixture back in March. Conan Byrne grabbed a double that day, one either side of half-time. Followers of the stats will be quick to remind us that it was their second win to nil over Bohemians in the last four games involving the pair. On their own patch, we expect something similar. 4/5 St Pats looks more than enough.
Shamrock beat Finn Harps
There’s not a huge gulf between these sides in terms of league standings, but Shamrock have enjoyed much the better season so far. They had to settle for a point with St Pats last time out, ending 1-1 in what was a very winnable match before the off. They should get back on track with victory over an opponent who went down 3-0 to Bray Wanders recently. Confidence is low in the camp, and Shamrock should take advantage at 3/4.
Cork beat Limerick
Cork have done nothing but impress so far this season. They have been fantastic from the start, taking complete control of the Irish Premier League. Way out in front, they put five past Drogheda United recently, and smashed Shamrock Rovers 4-1. That free-scoring attack now sets its sights on a Limerick defence that leaked three against lowly Finn Harps. We tie things up at 3/10.
