NAP to roll back the years

Bet of the day lines up in the 4.15pm, a conditional jockeys handicap hurdle fought out over the two-mile four-furlong trip. We have a snappy eight-runner field marked down, but Ossie’s Dancer looks the pick of the bunch.

Martin Smith’s experienced eight-year-old has done punters a favour in the past, winning this race a couple of years ago, and the pointers suggest he’s more than capable of going and doing it again here. Granted, we’ve not seen him in the winner’s enclosure for a while now, last leading them home in 2015, and there’s not an awful lot in his stats since that would encourage backers to rush out and trust the team with their stake money.

Coral offering a big price

What does go in Ossie’s Dancer’s favour however is the leniency of the handicapper here. When taking the prize money in 2015, he was considerably higher in the weights, and if he can find some of his old form, he looks to have been given every chance to roll back the years. This is trainer Martin Smith’s big hope of the afternoon, and they’re obviously coming here to do a job.

Coral traders don’t fancy his chances, which is good news for backers, and if you want to take a chance and follow our thinking, you’ll get 15/2 at the time of writing. Each-way players get 1/5 the odds 1-2-3.

OLD GUARD with Harry Cobden wins Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham 15-11-15.

Honeyball stats are encouraging

Going back in for our next best of the schedule and we have East Wing in the lucky last. A NH flat race, Harry Cobden does the steering for Anthony Honeyball, and we’re expecting that to be a winning partnership.

Making his debut today, we obviously don’t have an awful lot to go on in terms of form, but plenty can be taken from both the breeding and yard. It’s worth knowing that Honeyball boasts a healthy profit when running bumper debutants, and the trainer is another who has travelled to Plumpton pinning his hopes on one.

It’ll be interesting to see just what the pick has to offer here, but there’s a few clues that gets us excited, and there’s lots to like about the 10/3 currently trading too.
