Concentrating on the action in Scotland

There’s plenty for Coral horse racing punters to get involved with on Wednesday, with meetings penned in at Ayr, Lingfield, Yarmouth, Kempton, Southwell and Wexford. You can back your selections right here at Coral. Click now for betting on every race, at every meeting, or to build your midweek multiples, including Lucky 15s and accumulators.

Our bet of the day on Tuesday did exactly as expected, getting up to win the last at Nottingham, edging out Borough Boy by a neck in the process. A stroke of luck, perhaps, but certainly a result that was made to feel most welcome by those who followed our thinking.

We aim to build on that with our NAP of the day for Wednesday. Read on to follow, or you’ll find our usual race-by-race selections at the foot of this page, giving you an interest throughout the day.

Roger Varian

Nezwaah looks a worthy favourite

Pick of the afternoon lines up in Scotland, where an intriguing eight-race card gets started at 2.20pm. Bustam rates as the one to be on in the opener, according to our calculations, but it’s merely interest stakes until the NAP goes in the penultimate race on the card, the 5.20pm.

The Tennent’s sponsored Rothesay Stakes, a listed race decided over one mile two furlongs, Nezwaah looks the ace of a six-runner field. There was a lot to like about the four-year-old filly last season, and we’re hoping to see further progress here. Getting off to a flyer, Roger Varian’s hope banked the prize money in each of her first two attempts, winning around Chelmsford and Wolverhampton. She was also seen scoring at Newcastle last summer, over today’s trip, which is certainly worth noting.

Postponed

Atzeni trusted to do a job

A move into group two company in France didn’t quite get the result connections were hoping for, but she is very much back in her comfort zone here, and should respond accordingly. Andrea Atzeni takes the ride, and boasts a respectable CV for getting favourites home in front over the years. She’s in good hands, and if the jockey can get the kind of progress out of Nezwaah that we’re hoping to see, she’ll live up to her quote. One for multiples, perhaps, but we’re confident she’ll deliver.
