Bet of the day: Tuesday’s racing
NAP goes in the lucky last
Horse racing followers have an action-packed schedule ahead this week, including the Irish 2000 and 1000 Guineas. Before the drama of all that, we stick to our bread and butter, giving our NAP of the day in Tuesday’s card at Nottingham.
A seven-race meet gets underway at 2.00pm, and you’ll find our winner of that leg, as well as each of the following six, at the foot of this page, aimed at strengthening your accumulators. In terms of a best bet of the day however, we take little more than a passing interest until the lucky last.
Gold at the end for Rainbow
A five-furlong sprint, due off at 5.00pm, the best of the nine-runner field expected to post, by our calculations, is Rainbow Orse. The selection seems to enjoy it around here, and although he can be a tough nut for punters to crack at times, he has won at Notts in two of his three attempts.
Jim Crowley rides for Robert Cowell, and followers of the stats know that’s a wise move by the trainer, as Crowley brings an impressive record of getting favourites home in front over the last few years. He will surely fancy his chances of enhancing a 37 per cent strike rate on this one.
Track and trip to his liking
What’s more impressive for Rainbow Orse backers is that each of his two wins at this track have come over today’s trip. He hasn’t been seen in action since a poor effort at Pontefract late last year, but we’re hopeful the time away would’ve reinvigorated the five-year-old, and he’ll arrive fresh, fit and ready to do the business.
Tuesday’s NAP also appears to have been given every chance by the handicapper to go and bank the prize money, running off a previous winning mark, and there’s plenty to like about the yard at the minute too. The clues appear to suggest he can win, and Coral traders are handing out a lively 9/4.
