Five plays to enhance your Sunday
Followers of our football accumulators had plenty to shout about on Saturday, and we aim to send a few more winners your way on a super Sunday of live action. Highlight of the day goes at White Hart Lane where Spurs host Europa League finalists Man Utd.
The afternoon’s viewing gets started with a Championship play-off first-leg clash between Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday, both sides looking to put one foot on the Wembley turf. We give our winner in that one, as well as four other legs below. Every £5 staked pays £306.80.
Crystal Palace beat Hull
This match means more to Hull than it does Palace, The Tigers now four points behind Swansea and safety. Hull have a tricky last few games, and it looks like they have missed their best chance to beat the drop, losing last week to Sunderland. Crystal Palace are out of form themselves, losing each of their last three, going down to Spurs, Burnley and Man City. Big Sam’s side appear to have run their race, but could climb to 13th with the right result. They look value in front of their own fans at 10/11.
Tottenham beat Man Utd
Tottenham saw their slim chance of winning the Premier League evaporate on Friday with Chelsea’s 1-0 win over West Brom. The Blues are now 10 points ahead of Spurs, with just nine still up for grabs. A great effort, but in the end I’m sure everyone in north London will admit we have a champion full deserving of their crown. Will Tottenham now switch off with second place their lot? We don’t think so, certainly not against Manchester United. The Red Devils are winless in three at this level, and lost 2-0 to Arsenal last time. 8/11 on a home win is added.
Sheff Weds beat Huddersfield
The all-important Championship play-off first leg at the John Smith’s Stadium. Tensions will be running high in this one, with both sides eager not to lose any ground in the early exchanges, but The Owls won each of the two league games vs Sunday’s opponents, winning home and away, both without conceding. That’s worth sticking with and we go Wednesday for the advantage at 21/10. They will fancy their chances of going all the way and returning top-flight football to Hillsborough.
Blackpool beat Luton
Both League Two play-off games go at 6.30pm, and we’re picking Blackpool to get their noses in front at home to Luton. The Hatters ranked as the better side over the course of the season, finishing three places higher in the table, picking up seven more points. The Seasiders know they must grab a solid win at home if they are to stand any chance, but have plenty of experience in play-off football, and that will come to their aid. The locals are 29/20 to get the desired result, and that looks worth an interest.
Carlisle beat Exeter
Lastly, we go with The Cumbrians, who saved their season with a strong finish to the campaign. Unbeaten in five, they won their last two, battling to a sixth-place finish, ending level on points with Exeter. Carlisle won home and away against The Grecians this season, both with a 3-2 final score. Fans will be hoping for another entertaining clash. The hat-trick rounds us off at a useful 29/20.
