Eight sides to keep onside
Saturday throws up some interesting matches from the Premier League, not least Everton’s trip to Wales in the 5.30pm kick-off, live on Sky Sports. Victory for The Toffees could spell the end of Swansea’s survival chances this season, especially if Hull get the win expected vs Sunderland earlier in the schedule.
We give our views on both halves of the relegation dog fight in our acca, which you will find mapped out below. Eight teams backed on Saturday, when clubbed together £5 pays £668.10, with prices and returns mentioned correct at the time of writing. Let’s flick through the contenders…..
Leicester beat Watford
Starting at the King Power and Leicester have a chance to lift themselves into the top-10, with the right set of results. That would be a fantastic achievement for a club many thought were destined for the drop this season. Watford have lost each of their last two without scoring a goal. Foxes kick things off at 4/7.
Hull beat Sunderland
This is a must-win match for The Tigers. They have a tricky couple of matches coming up, so a home game against bottom of the league can’t be passed up. Hull go in unbeaten in two, and can stretch their advantage over Swansea and the drop zone to five points, for a few hours at least. The locals make sense at 4/9.
Everton beat Swansea
Everton could stick a pin in Swansea’s chances of avoiding Championship football. The Toffees were beaten by Chelsea last time, but we’ll get over that, and so should they. There’s a real chance for Everton to finish in the top-six this season, ahead of a poor Arsenal. Going to the Liberty Stadium is never easy, but it’s certainly within their capabilities. 31/20 looks on the generous side.
Portsmouth beat Cheltenham
Pompey don’t need the win, and now that they have cemented their promotion, we’ve seen them take their eye off the ball. I do think they will want to reward their loyal fans with an honest effort at home however, especially against weaker opposition. 4/11 goes in, and is expected to do a job.
Blackpool beat Leyton
It’s easy to oppose Leyton this year, they are in a real mess from top to bottom, and need a complete overhaul if they are to bounce back. It’s not looking likely. If The Seasiders are interested in winning this match it’s there for the taking at 2/11.
Kilmarnock beat Dundee
This looks a real pick-em contest, with Dundee grabbing a rare win last time under new boss Neil McCann, but I expect the feel-good factor to run out here. That victory vs Motherwell remains their only positive in eight, the other seven during that run ending in defeat. Killie have lost just one of seven, the spare coming against Celtic, which makes the 23/20 a standout.
Hamilton beat Inverness
Caley are rock-bottom of the Scottish Premiership and looking every inch a relegated side. Trips to the likes of QOS and St Mirren will be a regular feature next season, and they only have themselves to blame. A record showing just four wins in 34 starts tells the story. Accies go at 9/4, which will boost our returns.
Falkirk beat Dumbarton
Finishing in the Scottish Championship and Falkirk have secured their place in the play-offs, again, but will want to nail down second, giving them a game less in the next phase. Win and they’ll get it. We have every confidence, and 21/20 looks chunky.
