Bayern tightening their Bundesliga grip
Bayern Munich go into this glamour tie with one hand on the title. They have been amongst the most dominant sides in European football this year, as was expected by many pre-season, and currently lead RB Leipzig by 10 points. Their rivals would need wings to get anywhere near them.
Munich set-up for game 28 with just one defeat in their last 10 league goes. That run shows seven wins, but they saw a five-match run of victories broken by defeat to Hoffenheim last time out. Kramaric grabbed the only goal of the game on 21-minutes, prompting critics to suggest Bayern are winding down after a period of dominance. They are all but over the line – have they taken their eye off the ball?
Our traders don’t think so and price the home win up as an 8/15 red-hot favourite. That’s a tad tight about a side coming off a shock defeat, and value hunters will be interested to know that Munich lost 1-0 when last meeting Saturday’s opponents in the Bundesliga back in November. Those keen on the home side, but after a bit more value, can back Thomas Muller to score first at 9/2, in a market dominated by Lewandowski’s 5/2.
Stats suggest a low scoring affair
It has been somewhat of a lukewarm season for Borussia Dortmund so far, by their own high standards, and they travel to Allianz Arena down in fourth, despite winning the title last year. Thomas Tuchel’s crew show a season record of 14 wins, eight draws and five defeats, but they have been improving of late, winning five of their last seven.
Victory on their own patch when last facing Saturday’s opponent’s will give them plenty of heart going into this one, and an away win is there to be shot at by lovers of an upset, with Coral handing out as much 19/4 on Dortmund as you can stuff into your betting satchels. Undecided, or just prefer to keep the stats close? Two of the last four games between these sides have ended 0-0, and another draw is yours at a tempting 10/3 with Coral. That would test the theory that Bayern are running down the clock.
What is rather more interesting when flicking through past meetings between Munich and Dortmund however is that clicking no in the both teams to score coupon would’ve banked you a winner in each of the last four, and sticking with that is a 13/10 play. That’s our bet of the evening.
