Jon Rahm worst result for Coral at US Masters

Published:

Spanish golfer Jon Rahm is the worst possible result for leading bookmaker Coral heading into the US Masters at Augusta this week. The Spaniard is 20-1 with the firm to win the Green Jacket at his first attempt.

At the top of the betting, Dustin Johnson is the 6-1 favourite with Coral to continue his excellent start to the season. Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth can both be backed at 8-1 to be successful in the opening Major Championship of the year, while Jason Day is as big as 20-1.

“No debutant has won the Masters in 38 years but that is not putting punters off backing Jon Ram who is by far our worst result heading into tournament following a flurry of bets for Spaniard over the last few days,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“Rory McIlroy has been well supported to complete the Grand Slam this year, while Lee Westwood has been popular with each-way punters, as he always is, to end his wait for a Major Championship,” added Hill.

“The two big players backers appear to be avoiding this year are Jordan Spieth and Jason Day who are friendless to win the opening Major of 2017,” concluded Hill.
