Juventus lead the betting for his signature

The rumour reel has gone into overdrive around the Emirates of late, concerning the future of star striker Alexis Sanchez, with the relationship between player and manager Arsene Wenger said to be at breaking-point.

The 28-year-old Chilean star was dropped to the bench for the trip to Liverpool following a training ground bust-up between himself, fellow players and senior management. The gamble back-fired, and if Wenger was looking to teach his man a lesson, he failed badly. Beaten 3-1 by The Reds, Sanchez was brought on for the second-half to inject some life into his side’s forward play, and made an impact, setting up a goal for team-mate Danny Wellbeck. One point to player power.

Alexis Sanchez top scorer odds for the Premier League Golden Boot look worth an each-way wager, but how does his return of 47 in 100 compare to modern Arsenal greats strike rates?

Sanchez wants silverware

That result saw The Gunners drop to fifth in the top-flight, out of the Champions League places, following three defeats in four. A miserable run for a side with Arsenal’s ambitions, and men of Sanchez’s quality won’t want to wait around and play for a side who see a top-four finish as a success. In Arsenal’s last five matches in all competitions, Sanchez has scored three goals. Wenger 0-2 Sanchez.

It’s possible that both Sanchez and the gaffer will be long gone by the kick-off next season, with Wenger looking to finally bow to pressure from some sections of the support, saying that he will consider his position at Arsenal at the end of the season. It’s looking increasingly likely he will finally step-down as manager of the club, especially if they end without a trophy, certainly if they finish fifth or lower.

Arsenal look set to seal three points against Palace.

Serie A move looks likely

Sanchez won’t be short of offers in the summer either, but his current employers have already said that they won’t let their prize-asset join another English Premier League side. He won’t lose much sleep over that, not with the likes of PSG and Juventus said to be sniffing around.

Italian giants Juve are favourite in that market, and we are offering 3/1 that he pulls on the black and white of The Zebras next for another crack at Serie A. If reports are to be believed – and they rarely can be at this point of the season – Sanchez will continue to ignore Arsenal’s contract offers and shift to Juventus in a £25m move at the end of the season.

The Italian top-level looks to be his most likely destination, with Juve or one of their rivals, as Inter Milan are 7/2 second-favourites to wrestle him from London. Currently down in sixth, they could certainly do with his class to bolster their attack, while rivals AC, one place lower, can be taken at 9/2 to include the Mexican in their squad for the 2017/18 campaign.
