Emmanuel Macron long odds-on to win French election

| 23.04.2017

Emmanuel Macron has been cut into 1-6 (from 4-6) by leading bookmaker Coral to win the French presidential election following the result of the first round where he is projected to have gained a 23.7% share of the vote and is through to the final round. Marine Le Pen, who also is thought to have advanced through to the second round, is out 7-2 to come out on top next month.

“The first round result gave Macron just a small lead in the presidential election but after being endorsed by a number of the former candidates, he is now the long odds-on favourite to defeat Le Pen in the final round,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“Le Pen has been very popular in the betting throughout this campaign, however, she was the favourite to pick up the most votes in the first round and after failing to do so her odds have drifted considerably heading into the final stage,” added Hill.
