Eight-fold from across the UK

Getting in to the thick of a bumper weekend of football and there’s no question about where game of the day goes, as London rivals Chelsea and Spurs face-off in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Wembley, live on BBC.

Before that titanic tussle gets underway, there’s a host of 3.00pm clashes need sorting out. We run over the best of the afternoon’s fixtures, and return with our Saturday accumulator. Eight sides trusted, with a £5 acca paying £892.05. Prices and returns mentioned throughout are correct at the time of writing.

Everton beat West Ham

Everton, currently sitting joint-sixth with Arsenal, can usually be trusted to beat the sides they are supposed to at this level, and West Ham at their new home are certainly a side they are supposed to. The Hammers are free from the threat of relegation, and don’t have an awful lot to aim for in the closing stages. They have managed just one win in their last nine goes, a poor run which includes five defeats on the bounce. The Toffees can leapfrog Arsenal with the points, priced at 23/20.

Hull beat Watford

A chance is given to The Tigers on account of their impressive home form this season. They have a relegation battle on their hands, but are two points ahead of Swansea going into game 34. Five points would probably be enough of a cushion to see them sneak through. In their two previous home matches this month they have beaten West Ham and Middlesbrough, scoring six goals in the process. 20/23 is added to the list.

Bournemouth beat Middlesbrough

It doesn’t take much to oppose Middlesbrough this year, and we are going to do just that again here. The Cherries are no world beaters, and have lost each of their last two, but those defeats came against Chelsea and Spurs. We’ll take more from recent wins vs West Ham and Swansea, as well as draws with Man Utd, Liverpool and Southampton. Home win at 5/6.

Chelsea beat Tottenham

Pick of the round, and we’re going to stick our necks on the line and say Chelsea. We’ve taken a more in-depth look at this match, which you will find on the football section of our site, but to recap, Chelsea boast the better form over Spurs in this competition, and look worth a play at 31/20. There’s nothing in this, but we’re picking sides.

Chelsea's David Luiz celebrates scoring his side's first goal during the Premier League match at the Anfield, Liverpool.

Wolves beat Blackburn

Wolves beat Leeds 1-0 last time out in a real upset, and that stretched their recent record to six wins from eight. It doesn’t count for much in terms of this season, but does give them hope going forward, and Paul Lambert’s side will want to finish as high up the rankings as possible, before strengthening over the summer. Blackburn have managed just two wins in 10, making a home win fair at 23/20.

Sheff Weds beat Derby

The Owls are fighting hard for a place in the play-offs. They sit fifth at present, but are just two points ahead of Leeds in seventh, and nothing has been achieved just yet. Leeds took their eye off the ball, and dropped out of the prize places. Wednesday will want to avoid a similar fate. We have them to keep on-course at 4/5.

Bradford beat AFC Wimbledon

Bradford, in League One, do look to have extended their season into the play-offs, and it would come as no major surprise to see them included in the Championship fixture list in the summer. We support them to beat a Wombles who are winless in four. 8/15 Bantams will do us.

Morton beat Ayr United

Greenock Morton are in desperate need of a win to ensure their season doesn’t go stale as they approach the play-offs. A second-place finish in the Scottish Championship is still a possibility, and they have been given a real chance to get the points at Cappielow against bottom of the league. Strangely, a must-win for Duffy’s crew, at least to get the fans believing again. 6/10 rounds things off.
