Monday Quiz
Welcome to Monday, and we take stock following a hard-hitting weekend of sport. Few results made more headlines than goings on at the 02 Arena, where massive underdog Tony Bellew stopped bitter rival David Haye.
Few gave the out-spoken Scouser a chance against former world heavyweight champion Haye, and when the pair went face-to-face at the weigh-in the glaring differences in body-shape moved some sports fans to call it one of the biggest boxing mismatches in living memory.
As the old saying goes in the fight game however, you can’t put muscles on your chin, and biceps count for nothing in the heat of battle. Haye settled into the contest quickly, applying the pressure and looking to bring his famous Hayemaker hooks into play, but Bellew tucked up well, swerved the danger, and kept his opponent at arms-length. A clumsy exchange in the sixth saw Haye go over, not from a punch either, and it appeared to have flared up a rumoured leg injury. After that the Londoner was a sitting duck, and Bellew went on to catch his man at will, before putting him out of his misery.
That has to rate as one of the biggest boxing upsets in years, and we make Tony Bellew the focus of our Monday quiz. So, how much do you know about the winner’s career? Alongside our friends at Sporcle, we have set you a quiz, five-minutes, name the round in which Bomber stopped each of the opponents mentioned.
So, how did you get on then? Apologies if that was too tough. I think Bellew himself would struggle to get 10/10.
Did you go all the way to the top of the game with a perfect score, or crash and burn in the early rounds, accepting there’s easier ways to make a living than getting punched in the face.
Feel free to post your score in the comments section below. You can also share the quiz with friends, family, or people you’d like to beat into submission, to size their efforts up against the champs.
