Standout four on Newcastle’s card
A warm welcome to the weekend, and Friday’s horse racing schedule looks like this for Coral punters – Fontwell, Lingfield, Wetherby, Newcastle and Dundalk. More than enough to keep you busy, and more than enough to keep you winning.
We focus on Friday evening’s card at Newcastle, where racing gets underway on the allweather from 5.45pm. We have picked out our four best, giving punters an option of backing them as singles, or clubbing a few together in a multiple, such as a Lucky 15. Cheval Blanche – 6.15 Newcastle
Getting started with the second race on the card, and we’ll be picking Cheval Blanche to get us off to a flyer. Jamie Spencer takes the ride of this eye-catching three-year-old filly, who arrives at track having won two of her three career starts. She made the perfect introduction when taking a maiden at Redcar, and was last seen scoring around Lingfield a week ago. Looks to have been given every chance to go in again.
Foolaad – 7.15 Newcastle
Roy Bowring saddles Foolaad, who is another caught winning last time out, at Newcastle off an impressive SP. The progressive six-year-old had been knocking on the door prior to that success earlier this month, and the fact they have got him back out again quickly holds plenty of weight with me. He comes up against a number of rivals making their first start of the year, but his sharpness, and confidence, will give him the edge. Again, the handicapper looks to be in a good mood with our selection.
Swansaway – 7.45 Newcastle
Swansaway is always a favourite of mine when going at Newcastle, and arrives as consistent as ever. Came close to nailing a course double last time when finishing second here in January, but he hasn’t ended outside of the places in any of his last five. Goes after a bit of a rest, and that will only help our cause. In a race as competitive as this, it pays to take a reliable sort who has done us plenty of favours in the past.
Little Miss Daisy – 8.15 Newcastle
Finally, let’s hope we are on to a good thing by the time Little Miss Daisy goes to post in the penultimate test of the evening. It won’t pay to oppose this improving filly, and she has shown a liking for the surface in the past, which puts her ahead of a few of her rivals. Followed a runner-up at Lingfield with a really good win at Kempton last time. There’s plenty more to come, and we should see an example of it here.
