New season fast approaching

Ferrari captured the headlines in testing for the new Formula One season, which gets underway in Melbourne on 24th – 26th March with the Australian Grand Prix. Click now to place your Formula One season bets.

The famous red of Ferrari put up the fastest lap in testing in midweek, ensuring all the talk was about their chances in the upcoming campaign. Kimi Raikkonen nipped 0.897 seconds off the time of Max Verstappen in the Red Bull car, when going around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalnya.

Eager fans didn’t catch a glimpse of Britain’s Lewis Hamilton however, after Mercedes picked out a fault with their electrics during preparation. Williams also didn’t go after Lance Stroll damaged the car earlier in the week. They aim to be back in action on Tuesday.

Ferrari go at a racy price

That early speed doesn’t seem to hold much weight with our traders however and if you are looking to pick up on those pointers and take Ferrari to win the world constructors championship, then we’ll give you 13/2. That puts them third in the market.

Finish speed-freak Kimi Raikkonen is doing the rounds at 20/1 to finish the season at the front of the drivers’ championship, and that is sure to attract a share of attention from the value-hunters looking to nick a decent price. Sebastian Vettel is deemed a more likely victor, and the German can be dropped into your season-long bets at a handy 9/1.

Hamilton favourite for fourth title

Mercedes are fancied to put their early problems behind them and get it together when it matters. The betting comes down strongly in support of them winning the constructors championship and that’s a 4/11 poke at the time of writing.

British racing fans will be keen to see Lewis Hamilton return to winning ways and he is odds-on favourite to finish on the top-step. Coral have the 32-year-old from Stevenage – who already has three championships in the bag, claiming the title in 2008, 2014 and 2015 – at no more than 5/6 to add number four this year.
