Bet of the day: Monday’s racing

We pick out the best at Wolverhampton

Monday’s UK horse racing schedule consists of meetings planned for Lingfield, Southwell and Wolverhampton, and Coral punters can have their say on every race, at every meeting, or cast their net a bit further and get involved in the international scene. We’ve got you covered.

Click here to place your bets on Monday’s cards now, or read on as we detail our best bet of the afternoon, and chief support, which both go on the all-weather at Wolverhampton. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will find a selection in every race, designed to lend a helping hand to your Lucky 15 and multiple plays.

Murphy’s ride makes most appeal

Wolves gets going at 2.10pm, with the first of an eight-race card that will take us through until the lucky last at 5.40pm. Of the bunch, the one we focus our attentions on is the penultimate contest, the 5.10pm handicap, played out over one-mile four-furlongs.

Of the 11-runners jotted down, Cohesion looks the best to side with. The Oisin Murphy ridden three-year-old gelding shows a CV of two wins from four starts, with each of those victories coming in his first two goes, in the summer. Since returning in January he has had two tries around Lingfield, never getting near the winner, but that looks to have been in better company than he faces today, and if he can keep improving, he’ll get back in the winner’s enclosure.

Thankfully for us the traders don’t seem to have much time for Cohesion, and he opened in the market at 10/1. Much of that has already been eaten up, and I’m hoping it’s the support of smart money too.

Enfolding the next best

Going straight back in on the last race and Enfolding is given the nod in the 5.40pm maiden stakes over one-mile one-furlong. Trainer James Fanshawe has moved to get Silvestre De Sousa on his hopeful, to give the talented two-year-old the best chance to get off the mark.

He has been knocking on the door of late, finishing second in each of his last two starts, and gave a career best around this track at the end of January when beaten a neck by Poetic Force. He could very well have won that day, and I noted him down as one to try again, which we do here.
