Home sweat home
Burnley put their impressive home form to the ultimate test on Sunday when welcoming runaway Premier League leaders Chelsea to Turf Moor. The Blues are shaping as champions-in-waiting, but they must pass strict tests, like the one ahead on Sunday.
Sean Dyche has based top-flight survival on making his crew difficult to break down at home, and it has certainly paid off so far. The Clarets enter the weekend 12th in the table, and since losing 2-1 to Man City at this venue back in November, they have pieced together a home record of seven wins in-a-row in all competitions. Each of their last four have come without conceding a goal. Another on the pile would surely rate as their best yet.
This current Chelsea side pay little notice to stats, they are making and breaking their own records this season. They spanked Burnley 3-0 in the reverse of this fixture in August, with goals from Hazard, Willian and Moses. They’ve not lost away to Burnley since 1983, and don’t look like a group capable of ruining that. The away day can be trusted at 2/5 with Coral. It should be a tight affair however and punters after a bit more could try under 2.5 in the total goals market at 20/23.
Relegation six-pointer
As unlikely as it was to see Leicester storm to the Premier League title last season, few saw them go on to break into the knock-out stages of the Champions League and be sucked into a relegation battle at home. The Foxes really are the masters of unpredictability.
It is becoming increasingly likely that Leicester will be dragged into the bottom-three, and they go into game 25 of the season in 16th, just two points better than bottom-club Sunderland. Four defeats on the bounce has sections of the media calling for manager Claudio Ranieri’s head, and they now meet a Swansea City who are below them on goal difference only. The Welsh reps have won two of their last three, and with the odd one out being a narrow loss to Man City, they can be forgiven.
The Swans have lost three of their last four home games though, conceding a dozen goals in that time. Leicester had a tough assignment in midweek, beating Derby in extra-time. There will be some exhausted legs in the squad, making both teams to score a play at 23/20 with us. That would have been a winning bet when the two last faced-off.
