La La Land is the 1-7 favourite with leading bookmaker Coral to win the Best Picture prize this evening at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles. In what is expected to be a good evening for the American musical, Damien Chazelle is as short as 1-25 to receive the awarded Best Director gong for his work on the film and Emma Stone tops the betting at 1-6 to pick up the Best Actress award.

British actor Dev Patel is 11-2 to land the Best Supporting Actor gong where he has Mahershala Ali ahead of him in the betting at 11-2, while British actress Naomie Harris is 16-1 to pick up the Best Supporting Actress award which would be a big surprise as Viola Davis is 1-100 in that category following her work in Fences.

“The betting suggests it is going to be another good night for La La Land who are not only long odds-on to win the Best Picture gong, but Damien Chazelle and Emma Stone are the favourites to scoop the Best Director and Best Actress prizes respectively,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“Dev Patel has the best chance of British success this evening, however, it would be a surprise if he was to beat Mahershala Ali who is the short price favourite in the Best Supporting Actor betting,” added Hill.
