Rumour Reel January 4th Michail Antonio to Chelsea

Coral’s rumour reel

We’re only four days into the January transfer window, but there’s plenty of football gossip to chew over already, with West Ham United wideman Michail Antonio to Chelsea the latest mooted winter move. That’s not all which has caught the attention of Coral’s rumour reel on this fine Wednesday morning however, so read on for the latest transfer tidbits…

Are your club eyeing a shock target? Find out below!

Michail Antonio to Chelsea?

Could Hammers hero Antonio be about to follow in the footsteps of Frank Lampard and Joe Cole by swapping the claret and blue of the Irons for the royal blue of Chelsea?

Tabloids are tipping the English wideman to hop from one London club to another despite the rivalry, as Antonio Conte seeks to keep his dominant side top of the PL table.

In what has been a woeful season so far for West Ham, former Nottingham Forest winger Antonio has been a shining light, featuring at all of right back, wing back, wide midfield and even in the emergency forward position for Slaven Bilic’s boys.

Eight goals and one assist from 19 appearances have confirmed the 26-year-old’s attacking talents, though it is likely the London native’s versatility, pace, workrate and energy that has attracted Conte.

Antonio could be ideal as one of the Italian’s wing backs with his ability to change games at both ends of the pitch, but would he be an upgrade on Victor Moses who currently patrols the right flank at Stamford Bridge?

Davie Selke transfer tussle?

While aiming to keep hold of their current stars, West Ham are also seeking to do some savvy spending of their own in the winter window, with RB Leipzig’s striker Davie Selke the latest to be linked.

The Irons’ attempts to land a fresh forward have been well-documented, but the capital club could face another tricky transfer prospect in trying to land the German goal-getter.

Sharpshooter Selke is a top prospect in the Bundesliga, but the 21-year-old has fallen down the pecking order for Die Bullen, despite having helped his club achieve promotion to the German top-flight last term with 10 goals.

The most expensive 2. Liga signing of all time has tucked away just two goals this term, and could be offloaded on loan with Timo Werner and co in such lethal form for surprise Bundesliga package Leipzig. But the Hammers aren’t the only ones eyeing the hitman, and may have to fight off the likes of Everton and Swansea City for Selke’s signature.
