Taking Call To Order odds look the best value on a cracking New Year’s Day card at Cheltenham, so Coral’s horse racing experts have no hesitation in recommending him as their bet of the day for January 1.
Hailing from the stable of Irish trainer Jonjo O’Neill, this six-year-old gelding is a course and distance winner around Prestbury Park from December, scoring in a similar class 2 handicap hurdle over an extended 2m 7f to the one he’s pitched in today (14:35).
Under Aidan Coleman, Call To Order tracked the leaders to go second three out and take up the running two from the finish before being driven clear in the closing stages for a 3 3/4 lengths success over a field of 11 others.
Handicapper kind to selection
Despite slightly wandering across the Cheltenham track after clearing the final flight, this – like his previous run – was a prominent performance from Call To Order.
Although following up on placing third of 15 on his penultimate Prestbury Park outing, the assessor has only put the selection up 5lb in the weights, so he races off 10st 9lb.
Call To Order thus runs off a still exploitable official rating of 127, and that entitles him to again shoulder joint bottom weight.
Well weighted for back-to-back successes
Class 2 company on the same good ground he gets underfoot here proved no problem, so there is every reason to side with the O’Neill horse once more.
Again among a field of 12, Call To Order faces more familiar names to horse racing punters, but all concede weight to him and should prove decisive in proceedings.
Back Call To Order odds because he ticks all the boxes for consecutive Cheltenham wins and handler O’Neill has seen a handy 57 per cent of his horses run to form over the last two weeks.
