Man City and Spurs clash on Saturday evening

Things couldn’t have gone much worse last week. Facing a tricky away day at Goodison Park, Manchester City were tasked with proving their title credentials. 90-minutes later and The Citizens’ season was in tatters, hammered 4-0 and pushed out of the top-four.

That result would have been hard to take for everyone connected to the club, but it’s in the past. It was one game, and this weekend brings a brand-new opportunity when hosting title-chasing Tottenham on Saturday night at the Etihad Stadium. Victory here would put the locals level on points with Spurs, and would go some way to deleting the horror show that was Everton.

Can they pull it off? We look at the best bets in Saturday’s live tussle…..

Tottenham are on an incredible run of form

Spurs arrive in great shape

Tottenham travel in fine form, and while City were picking the ball out of their own net four times, Spurs were rattling the same number of goals past West Brom to notch up their sixth win in-a-row, with that purple patch also showing victories over Chelsea and Hull without conceding. Confidence is coursing through the away dressing room, and the points heading back to London can be backed at a delightful 13/5 with Coral.

A look at the recent head-to-head meetings between these two suggests there’s even more reason for Spurs fans to be optimistic, having recorded a 2-0 win over City at White Hart Lane in the reverse of this fixture back in October. In fact, Tottenham have beaten Saturday’s hosts in each of their last three clashes, 4-1, 2-1 and 2-0, and haven’t lost at the Etihad Stadium since October 2014.

A home win has been chalked up on the board by Coral traders at 21/20, but punters may just value taking a chance on the bigger price. A draw can be had at 12/5, a nice enough offer, but not when you remember these two haven’t shared a game in well over six-years.

Aguero to score two or more goals is Coral's latest bet of the day for January 6th.

Man City have scored in every home match this season

You bet there will be goals

Those preferring to play this one safe and steer well-clear of the match betting market may find it interesting to know that four of the last five meetings of City and Spurs in Manchester has seen both teams find the net. That is a fact worth keeping in mind, making Coral’s 8/13 on both teams to score very easy to back.

Need more convincing? Well, the locals have netted at least one goal in every home match played so far this term, in all competitions, including the Champions League. Add to that Tottenham’s 12 goals scored this month already, and at least two recorded in each of their last seven starts, and we have a strong NAP on our hands.
