Bet of the day: Tuesday’s Racing
The pick of the card at Lingfield
Six races are scheduled at Lingfield today, with the action planned for a 1.50pm start. We get going nice and early, with our best bet of the afternoon lining-up in the third race on the schedule, the 3.00pm Handicap Chase. Let’s find the winner at a price!
A two-mile seven-furlong event, with 12-runners expected to contest, we had little problem in siding with Cheat The Cheater under the ride of champion jockey Richard Johnson. The experienced 10-year-old arrives as a previous victor over course and distance, and looks to have been given every chance to relive the glory days this afternoon.
He hasn’t stuck his head in front and won a race since February 2016, a run of four efforts without going close, with a third at Ffos Las on his penultimate start the best of that dry patch. The handicapper has picked up on that and looks to have treated him very fairly indeed, returning the selection to a winning mark.
Clair Dyson’s runner has the quality to win this race, if going anywhere near his A Game, and has a jockey on board who will know exactly how to get the best out of him. I expect it to be a winning partnership, and Coral traders are giving a decent price on us being on the right pick. He opened at 10/1, but has already attracted support.

Harry Fry arrives at course in great form
Fry on fire
Looking for a quick-fire double and we are straight back in on Queen Odessa in the 3.30pm mares novices hurdle over two-miles. Harry Fry goes looking for the prize money with his progressive six-year-old.
She won a year ago at Doncaster in a bumper and if that form is brought over into this sphere, then she has every chance in the world. Edging out Kayf Grace, who went off short-price favourite, by the tightest of margins that day looks to be the most eye-catching form of the field. Nick Schofield sits on board and, if in the mood, we should pay a welcome visit to the winner’s enclosure.
Trainer Harry Fry arrives in form, and followers of the stats will be interested to know that he boasts a 33 per cent strike rate in the last fortnight.
