Rangers host Well in pick of Scottish Cup ties

Standout of the Scottish Cup Fourth Round fixtures goes at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon as Premiership duo Rangers and Motherwell stake their claim for a place in the hat for the next round.

Our traders think that The Gers, after a lovely winter break in Germany, will get the desired result here, and make them favourites. Read on as we look to uncover a bit of value in the markets…..

New faces at Ibrox

When last seen in competitive action Rangers were on the wrong-end of a hurtful 2-1 defeat at this venue vs bitter rivals Celtic in the New Year’s Eve Old Firm Derby. Although they still have their work cut out to finish second in their first season back in the big league, the Scottish Cup remains Rangers only chance of silverware, and boy does manager Mark Warburton need a bit of bling.

Last season’s beaten finalists have been busy in the transfer market so far this month, adding Emerson Hyndman from Bournemouth and Jon Toral from Arsenal, both on-loan until the end of the season. The gaffer expects his newbies to have a major impact at this level, while fans remain unconvinced. Either getting a debut goal would sort that, with Hyndman 4/1 at Coral to net anytime, or 19/10 Toral.

All’s not well with Steelmen

Motherwell have lost to Rangers twice already this season, on League Cup and Premiership duty, conceding two goals on each occasion. Mark McGhee’s Steelmen have found points difficult to come by of late too, taking just a half-dozen from the last 21 available to them. More worrying still, for followers of the away side, is the fact they have conceded 13 goals during that miserable spell.

On their own patch, following a much-needed rest, Rangers should be trusted to get the job done and progress at Coral’s 1/3. That will certainly pull its weight in weekend accumulators. If you are after a bit more bang for your buck, we’ve got you covered too.

When these sides last met both teams scored in a 2-1 Rangers win. Interestingly, three of the light blues’ last five victories have also thrown up a 2-1 full-time score, and more of the same on Saturday afternoon gets our attention at 7/1. Both score and Rangers win offers a bit of a cushion, at a handy 7/4.
