The Coral Champions Club, a racing club set up by Coral three years ago, will celebrate its first ever runner in a Grade One race on Boxing Day, when Churchtown Champ lines up in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase.

The horse is trained by Coral Ambassador, Dan Skelton and, with stable jockey Harry Skelton riding Virgilio, will be ridden by another Coral Ambassador, Tom Scudamore.

“This is the most exciting day in the Coral Champions Club’s history and the fact that our first Grade One runner is trained by a Coral Ambassador and ridden by another Coral Ambassador makes it a very proud day for Coral as a whole”, said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.

“We are passionate and very active supporters of British racing, and the Coral Champions Club is just one example of our efforts to promote the sport to our customers”, added Clare.

Churchtown Champ is a 10/1 chance with Coral for the race following today’s declaration stage with nine rivals lining up against him. Five Coral customers, and members of the Coral Champions Club, have won a competition to own the horse for the day and will be attending Kempton Park and receiving full hospitality in a box as part of the prize.

“Coral is also the proud sponsor of Colin Tizzard and his team, and we will be cheering on both Cue Card and Thistlecrack to finish one two in either order in the King George, even if neither result will be particularly good for bookies”, added Clare.
