Five shouts for Serie A top scorer odds

Join in the Italian action thanks to Coral’s cracking value Capocannoniere market, with five shouts for Serie A top scorer odds worth taking. Our football experts have picked out poachers that could prove a profitable punt as the standings get ever-more exciting. If it is Golden Boot bets from Italy you’re after you’ve come to the right place.

Reigning champions Juventus aren’t having it all their own way this campaign, with improved showings from the likes of Roma, AC Milan and Lazio. While, outsiders like Atalanta and Torino are making Serie A even more appealing and open. And the race for the Golden Boot reflects that.

So, here are our five highlighted hitmen that we reckon could hit the highest haul…

Gonzalo Higuain (Juventus)

We couldn’t honestly ignore current Capocannoniere holder Higuain, especially not when the proven predator is a tempting 2/1 price to top score. Anything not odds-on is great value for the Argentina international, who notched 36 strikes last season for Napoli to level with Gino Rossetti’s 87-year-old record for most goals in a single Italian top-flight term.

With seven in 14 so far in Serie A as he adapts to Italian champions Juventus’ playing style, we wouldn’t put it past Higuain to really fly out of the blocks in the second half of the season and retain that Golden Boot. See some of El Pipita’s strikes for Juve so far:

Andrea Belotti (Torino)

Across town from Juve, Torino’s 22-year-old striking sensation Belotti is jostling for top spot of the scoring leaderboard in Serie A and punters can back the young-gun at an appealing 8/1 to be there come the end of the campaign.

With 10 strikes in 12 games, two outings less than his closest competitors who feature further down on this list, Belotti’s goal bagging form in Turin has propelled The Bull to seventh in Serie A. While, the Italian’s impressive showings have also seen him become the great new Azzurri hope, and he’s proven he can cut it away from Torino too with three goals in his first five caps.

A return of 19 shots on target from 32 goal attempts make Belotti the most lethal attacker in Italy right now. Watch him bag for The Bull:

Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan)

No matter what Inter Milan’s league form is like, one thing is sure, Argentine hitman Icardi will still score plenty of goals. It’s been a long time since the black and blue half of San Siro enjoyed Scudetto success, but that hasn’t stopped Icardi’s attacking exploits.

At just 23, Icardi has gobbled 57 goals in 103 league outings for Inter and has already netted 10 in 13 as the Nerazzurri’s main man this season. A previous joint Capocannoniere winner in 2015, if he keeps up his current strike rate, perhaps a second cap will come for Argentina.

Punters can plump for this outspoken poacher at a fantastic 5/2 to top score again. Get a load of Icardi’s goals:

Edin Dzeko (Roma)

Dangerman Dzeko is in the midst of a real purple patch for Roma, who currently reside second in the Scudetto race. The 30-year-old is in fine form as he sits on a 12-goal tally for the Eternal City outfit, having fired himself to the top of the scoring charts.

Dzeko is no stranger to top scorer awards either having previously claimed the Bundesliga Golden Boot, as well as most goals in the DFB Pokal and English Football League Cup. Bosnia and Herzegovina’s all-time top scorer therefore is an intriguing outside shout to last the pace and be crowned with the Capocannoniere at 9/4.

The frontman beats out cross-capital competitor Ciro Immobile of Lazio, as the Italy international has only once before scored more than 10 in a single top-flight term. Relive Dzeko’s goals this term:

Carlos Bacca (AC Milan)

Finally, Colombia hitman Bacca is our dark horse to bag the big prize, as the South American scoring machine should figure prominently in AC Milan’s season.

The Rossoneri are revived and currently sit third in Serie A, thanks to an exciting young core of talent. Bacca has been spearheading the side and despite lagging a little behind the top scorer chasing pack with six strikes in 13, should start hitting top form as his team do likewise.

A serial winner with Sevilla, for whom he fired in 49 in 108 outings across all competitions, Bacca has proven pedigree after poaching 20 in 43 for AC in his maiden season in Italy.

Expect more this time around, with goal-hungry Bacca a brilliant 20/1 to snare that Golden Boot. Have a gander a Bacca’s recent heroics:
