Bayern beat Chelsea to Sule signing?

Highly-rated Hoffenheim centre back Sule, 21, was said to be interesting Antonio Conte as the Blues boss seeks a long-term replacement for Stamford Bridge skipper John Terry, but Bayern appear to have stormed a march.

Reports in Germany claim Munich have agreed an undisclosed fee with Hoffenheim for £30m rated Sule, scuppering Chelsea’s chances of landing him.

Given a senior international debut by Die Mannschaft in an August friendly earlier this season, Sule also scooped Silver at the Rio Olympics.

Conte will have to turn his attention to other targets, including Atalanta and Ivory Coast holding player Franck Kessie, though the Blyes face competition from Premier League rivals for his services…

Spurs bid for Kessie?

Mauricio Pochettino is well-known for working well with young players, so Tottenham’s interest in Kessie according to reports in Italy may have merit.

Although well-stocked for deep-lying options, including Tom Carroll, Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama, a rumoured £19m Spurs bid for Kessie may blow Chelsea and Manchester United out the water.

Serie A side Atalanta have punched above their weight so far this term and sit sixth in the table. This is thanks in no small part down to the goals of Kessie, who has averaged a goal every three games from midfield.

Pochettino may have to sell this winter to make space for Kessie in the White Hart Lane squad, with other engine room options like Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and Mousa Dembele available.
