There’s a recent history of transfer switches between Premier League duo Everton and Manchester United, and the pair will soon collide once again at Goodison Park in an intriguing top-flight meeting.
Only a single point separates Jose Mourinho’s sixth-placed Red Devils (11/10 with Coral to win) and Ronald Koeman’s seventh positioned Toffees (5/2 to triumph), making their latest match-up a crucial one on the blue half of Merseyside.
The likes of Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin have both been linked with moves from Old Trafford to Goodison in recent weeks and, with there being plenty of players to have switched between the two, Coral writers look back at the best and worst.

Marouane Fellaini (Everton – Man Utd) – Hit

Fellaini has become a surprise key player under Mourinho this term.
Having started his senior career at Standard Liege, towering midfielder shot to prominence and secured a move to Merseyside in 2008, arriving for a then club record fee of £15m.
Following David Moyes’ takeover from Sir Alex Ferguson in 2012, the inevitable happened as his reliable midfield anchorman Fellaini followed suit to Old Trafford, as the Red Devils forked out a sizeable £27.5m.
The Belgium international took a lot of time to settle into new surroundings and became an early scapegoat for poor performances, but eventually became a strong character under Louis van Gaal and is enjoying plenty of game time under Jose Mourinho.
Tom Cleverley (Man Utd – Everton) – Miss

Cleverley has suffered a decline since arriving at Everton.
Previously regarded as a hot prospect at Man Utd after graduating from their academy, Cleverley stuttered when given the chance to regularly feature in red and saw his there come to an end with a move to Everton in 2015.
Following that free transfer to the Toffees upon his Man Utd contract expiring, the once promising midfielder has endured a downward spiral in his career in blue.
Darron Gibson (Man Utd – Everton) – Miss

Derry-born midfielder Gibson is another player to come through the ranks at Man Utd, going on to be part of the Premier League title winning side in 2011.
Although, after falling down the pecking order and struggling for form and fitness, the Republic of Ireland international departed for Everton in 2012 for an undisclosed fee. After a bright start to life on Merseyside it swiftly turned sour as he has suffered from injury setbacks throughout his current spell.
Phil Neville – (Man Utd – Everton) Hit

Neville enjoyed much success at both Man Utd and Everton.
Coming through United’s esteemed academy to make his senior debut 1995, Neville became part of the famous Class of 92′ side under Ferguson, winning an abundance of silverware alongside his brother Gary.
The 59-capped England versatility player swapped red for blue in the summer of 2005 in a move which cost Everton for £3m, and he went on to make over 100 appearances for the Toffees during a successful eight-year stint.
Wayne Rooney (Everton – Man Utd) – Hit

Rooney is an obvious hit as part of our hit or miss transfers between Everton and Man Utd.
Despite his recent criticism, Rooney is one of the most-lauded players of his generation and won everything possible major trophy for Man Utd, as well as breaking a host of club records over a decade at Old Trafford.
The all-time England marksman was snapped up by United back in 2002 for £25.6m after rising to prominence as a teenager for the Toffees – most notably netting a last-minute thunderbolt to down Arsenal on the eve of 17th birthday.
Tim Howard (Man Utd – Everton) – Hit

Howard banished his torrid time with Man Utd to enjoy success at Everton.
American shot stopper Howard was plucked from the MLS in 2003 by Ferguson and he showed early signs that he could go on to become a successful number one goalkeeper at Old Trafford.
That wasn’t to be the case, though, as he swiftly declined in form and made may high-profile errors. He was subsequently loaned to Everton before arriving permanently and became a huge hit at Goodison Park, making over 300 top tier outings to be regarded as one of the most consistent stoppers of recent times.
Louis Saha (Man Utd – Everton) – Miss

Saha is a miss on our list mainly due to his playing career at Everton having been plagued by injury.
Despite dispatching 42 times across 124 Man Utd appearances over a four-year period, Saha’s career at Old Trafford never really got going as he suffered many injury plagued seasons.
The Frenchman was a much-liked striker by the fans nevertheless, though he switched to Everton in 2008 on a two-year deal.
Saha struck 35 times in 115 appearances for the Toffees and made history by scoring the fastest goal ever in an FA Cup final during their eventual defeat to Chelsea, though his time at Goodison was also hampered by injury problems.
Norman Whiteside (Man Utd – Everton) – Miss

Whiteside was a star for Man Utd in the 1980s but suffered a poor spell at Goodison Park.
Northern Irishman Whiteside became a cult hero for Man Utd during the 1980s, making a huge impact at the club during his teenage years. Injury did hinder the forward during his career, though, and left Old Trafford in 1989 for Merseyside after playing 278 times for United, still only at the age of 24.
The attacker was plagued further with injury setbacks at Everton and, after two seasons with the club, ended his playing career. Notably, Whiteside also famously netted an extra-time winner for Man Utd in the 1985 FA Cup final to stop Everton from winning the double.
Mark Hughes (Man Utd – Everton) – Miss

Hughes is a club legend at Old Trafford but endured a spell to forget at Everton.
Like Whiteside, Hughes is a Man Utd legend from the 1980s and also played a huge part in helping the club return to success in the 1990s.
Hughes made a shock switch in 1986 to Barcelona, pairing up with fellow new recruit Gary Lineker, but was resigned by Ferguson for a then-club record fee of £1.8m and enjoyed massive success.
The Welshman joined his boyhood club Chelsea in 1995 and later arrived at Everton in 1999, where he spent tow seasons and only managed a single goal during a hapless stint there.
Andrei Kanchelskis (Man Utd – Everton) – Hit

Kanchelskis emulated his superb showings for Man Utd for a short time on Merseyside.
Man Utd sold midfielder Kanchelskis to Everton in 1995 for £5m, the highest fee ever paid by the Merseyside club at the time.
The Russian winger produced many outstanding performances in his maiden season for the Toffees, including scoring twice in a derby against Liverpool, as he became a cult hero before eventually departing for Fiorentina.
