Cheltenham tips for International Saturday: Vaniteux, Ami Desbois appeal
Coral horse racing experts give their Cheltenham tips for December 10, the Saturday of the International meeting, with Vaniteux bets and Ami Desbois odds featured…
Vaniteux bets to turn on style at Cheltenham
Vaniteux can make his class tell to defy top weight and land the spoils in the 2m Raymond Mould Handicap Chase on the final day of Cheltenham’s International meeting (13:15).
This Nicky Henderson trained gelding has always been held in high regard and developed into a very useful novice chaser last season.
After scoring in terrific style on his chasing debut at Kempton, Vaniteux lost little in defeat at the same venue when beaten just a neck by Ar Mad after bad blunder at the first.
The seven year-old quickly got back to winnings ways in the Grade 2 Lightning Novices’ Chase at Doncaster where he only had to be driven out to beat Arzal by 3 3/4 lengths.
Arzal went on to bolt-up in a Grade 1 at Aintree and the third home Fox Norton – who was beaten a further 10 lengths – has developed into a top-class 2m chaser this season that is currently second favourite for the 2017 Queen Mother Champion Chase.
Promising return to action at Ascot

Vaniteux bets appeal among Cheltenham tips for December 10.
The selection then ran in the Arkle Challenge Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival and was still bang in contention when only 1 1/2 lengths behind eventually winner Douvan as he blundered and unseated his rider two from home.
Vaniteux was allotted what looked a lenient opening handicap mark of 154 on the back of those efforts/ He then ran very well off it on seasonal reappearance when a five-length third to subsequent Tingle Creek runner-up Sir De Grugy in a hot contest at Ascot when shaping as if needing the run.
That should have put Vaniteux spot on for this and he now gets the good ground that he relishes.
Bouvreuil a tasty bet in Caspian Caviar
In the valuable 2m 4f Caspian Caviar Gold Cup Handicap Chase (13:50), Bouvreuil looks worth a wager at the odds on offer.
Paul Nicholls’ five-year-old was a big eye-catcher on seasonal reappearance and looks to have the perfect profile for the 2m 4f contest, so find out more in our Caspian Caviar Gold Cup tipping piece.
Ami Desbois odds value in old Bristol Novices
Ami Desbois has a progressive profile and looks decent value to land the hat-trick in the old Grade 2 Bristol Novices’ Hurdle (14:25).

Another of our Cheltenham tips for December 10, the Saturday of The International meeting, is siding with Ami Desbois odds in the old Bristol Novices’ Hurdle.
This six-year-old, who is trained by Graeme McPherson, had some useful to hot name last season including when third to Barters Hill in a Grade 2 contest at Doncaster.
Ami Desbois went on to open his account on the final start of the campaign when scoring easily at Hexham, later looking stronger and better than ever when keeping on well to readily land a decent class 3 handicap at Haydock on return to action last month.
This demands more, but Ami Desbois is clearly going the right way and it’s interesting that connections decided to run him in this rather than a handicap on the opening day of the International meeting where he looked potentially thrown-in at the weights.
My Tent Or Yours up for International challenge
The most valuable race of the day is the Grade 2 International Hurdle (14:00) and My Tent Or Yours looks a worthy favourite to register an overdue success.
Owned by JP McManus, this gelding is a real class act who ran a stormer to finish runner-up to Annie Power in this year’s Champion Hurdle following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Although only third on seasonal reappearance at Haydock, there are strong reasons to believe nine-year-old will step up significantly on that effort.
