Bookmaker Coral has suspended betting on Andy Murray being knighted in the New Year’s honours list, following the Scot’s Sports Personality of the Year success tonight.  World number one and Wimbledon and Olympic champion Murray had been as short as 1-10 with Coral to become Sir Andy, before they pulled the plug on the betting.

“After an incredible twelve months which saw him win Wimbledon and Olympic crowns and end the year as the world number one, it now seems certain that it will be Arise Sir Andy in the New Year’s honours list, and punters certainly agree, with his odds falling all the way to 1-10 before we pulled the plug,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
