Luke Morris looks ahead to his five All-Weather Wolverhampton rides on Saturday
If the first few weeks of the all-weather season are anything to go by then it’s going to be a real competitive winter in the weighing room.
There seems to be a lot of the guys that have got really strong connections this winter and they’re riding a lot of winners as a result. Graham Gibbons, who’s leading the championship, has a much stronger hand this winter than he’s ever had before and Jack Mitchell has a lot of good horses to ride for Roger Varian as well.
As a result, the rides are probably spread out slightly more this year so when you get the chances to win then it’s all the more important to make them count.
Being reigning champion and having all this competition spurs me on that bit more. I know that if I can ride winners for trainers then that could open up a few more rides and potentially winners down the line. That’s important for me keeping the title, which I’m determined to do.
I’m going to get my head down and make sure I’m grabbing the opportunities instead of someone else.
Wolverhampton preview
5.15 Wolverhampton – Personal Touch

As the latest Luke Morris blog reveals, Personal Touch is the first of his five All-Weather Wolverhampton rides on Saturday, December 3.
He’s off a good mark now and he’s nicely berthed in stall one as well. He’s been running okay and is down from a mark in the mid-80s to one in the low 70s now. I’d like to think he’d have a good chance of being involved in the shake-up.
6.15 Wolverhampton – Kubeba
He got a perfect trip around the last day and just bumped into a well-handicapped horse. If he jumps and gets a reasonable position from stall 11 then his form gives him a good chance.
7.45 Wolverhampton – Royal Marskell

Royal Marksell is another of Luke’s All-Weather Wolverhampton rides on Saturday, December 3.
He had his first run for a while on Monday and he ran well to finish third. He’s sure to improve for that, although you get the feeling he’s on a mark where the handicapper might just have him. Dropping back in trip from 2m½f to 1m5½f will suit him, but if there are any improvers he’s vulnerable.
8.15 Wolverhampton- Hallstatt
He’s dropped to a competitive handicap mark but at the same time he’s been slightly out of form. If he can come back to the form he was showing in the spring then he has a solid each-way chance.
8.45 Wolverhampton – Lobster Cocktail
With this race being a maiden he’s slightly wrong with a few of these at the weights which doesn’t help his chances. He’s got to step forward but if he does he’s more than capable.
