With Gareth Southgate set to be appointed as the new permanent England manager later today, leading bookmaker Coral is offering 8-1 that he wins a major tournament with the national team during his reign in charge. The Three Lions are top of their qualifying group for the 2018 World Cup and Southgate’s side are odds-on at 8-13 to remain unbeaten in their campaign for Russia.
Coral is still betting on who will be the next permanent England captain with speculation about Wayne Rooney’s future in the role. The firm make Jordan Henderson the odds-on favourite at 1-4 to receive the armband on a regular basis, Gary Cahill can be backed at 7-1 and Joe Hart is on offer at 8-1.
