Berbatov to Swansea?

Coral’s rumour reel

It’s Groundhog Day in the Premier League, as a struggling side targets a certain ageing luxury attacker to unsuitably spearhead their relegation battle. That’s right, Dimitar Berbatov to Swansea City seems to be Bob Bradley’s solution for survival!

So read about this surprise transfer tittle-tattle and more, including which Belgian wonderkid Arsenal now have on their radar, in Coral’s Friday fix of the rumour reel…

Dimitar Berbatov to Swansea City?

No, you’ve not gone back in time to five seasons ago. Nor are you dreaming. This rumour of a Berbatov Premier League return is real – and he could potentially arrive to try save struggling Swansea.

The Bulgarian apparently has unfinished business in England, after nine seasons spent with Spurs, Manchester United and Fulham. Though, Berbatov was memorably not quite cut out for a relegation dogfight, being the luxurious player that he is.

Yet, the now 35-year-old still managed to score 19 in 51 league appearances for now Championship team Fulham. So, can the silky striker be the answer to the Swans’ woes? Currently a free agent, Berbatov last notched five in 25 games for Greek side PAOK in 2016.

“I have met Dimitar a few times and I know he is anxious to get back into the Premier League,” said new Liberty Stadium boss Bradley, whose side are second from bottom.

“Yes he’s on my radar – there are a lot of things on my radar right now.”

Arsenal eye Matthias Verreth

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, Premier League title challengers Arsenal are reportedly ready to enhance their ranks with 18-year-old winger Matthias Verreth.

Currently plying his trade for PSV Eindhoven’s youth teams, like many a PL plundered talent before him, this latest Belgian wonderkid is said to have attracted Arsene Wenger’s attention.

Adnan Januzaj and Youri Tielemans are old news, with Verreth the new Belgian boy on the block. The teenager is able to play across numerous attacking positions and has struck three times in five Belgium under-19 appearances.

Though, the Gunners could face competition from AC Milan, who are becoming a hotbed of young talent with stars like Gianluigi Donnarumma at the club.
