Rumour Reel: Arsenal eye Oblak but is Ozil on his way back to Real?
Coral’s rumour reel
The last day in November brings with it an abundance of intriguing football gossip, with the winter transfer window drawing ever closer. Arsene Wenger’s men have their name splashed all over the papers and social media today, so Coral’s latest rumour reel reports whispers of Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak to Arsenal, while could Mesut Ozil return to Real Madrid?
For all that and more, including Chelsea’s apparent interest in a Colombia international (nope, not that one), read on…
Oblak to Arsenal?
The Gunners are believed to be planning for their future with a swoop for the next big star between the goal posts. Atleti’s number one Oblak has reportedly caught the eye of Manchester United in the past, but now it appears Arsenal are the ones after his signature.
Oblak, 23, has made 18 appearances in all competitions this campaign, conceding 12 and keeping 10 clean sheets. Though the Slovenia stopper reportedly has a whopping release clause of £85m that could make Wenger balk, so any bid would likely be substantially less, as Arsenal already boast 34-year-old Petr Cech and 31-year-old David Ospina as net options.
Ozil return to Real?
As for Arsenal exits, Germany number 10 Ozil’s contract situation with the Gunners has attracted plenty of speculation. And now, after rumoured interest from Man Utd, Spanish press are tipping the midfield schemer to be in contention for a return to former club Real Madrid after playing for Los Blancos between 2010-2013.
Ex-Red Devil Angel Di Maria, who left the Spanish capital in 2014 after arriving in the same summer as Ozil, is also being linked with a Bernabeu reunion amid rumours he is now unhappy at PSG. The thought of the pair competing with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and co may appear unlikely, but is a terrifying prospect for other clubs in theory.
Chelsea to lure Muriel
Finally, Premier League leaders Chelsea could also be looking to get some business done for an attacking talent and are reportedly tracking Colombia capped Luis Muriel.
The nimble and skillful Sampdoria sensation, who can play in numerous positions, could cost the Blues around £24m, so the Stamford Bridge side are thought to be ready to delay a move until summer. Muriel has six goals and as many assists from 14 Serie A outings this season.
