Coral’s rumour reel

Manchester United’s World Cup winning German could be on his way out of Old Trafford after a Jose Mourinho exile, as Bastian Schweinsteiger to Santos is linked on today’s back pages.

Schweinsteiger to Santos?

Former Germany captain and Bayern Munich star Schweinsteiger has emerged as a reported shock target for Brazilian side Santos. After Mourinho took charge of the Old Trafford outfit, Schweinsteiger has been left out in the cold, taking until November to be named in a matchday squad.

Santos boss Dorival Junior said: “My idea, and I’ve tried to convince the board of Santos, is that the Santos need a player with worldwide recognition.”

“We’ve been looking at names at European clubs who are suddenly not are being used and who could fit this profile.”

Schweinsteiger is also thought to be attracting interest from MLS clubs, with Chicago Fire the latest rumoured destination for the 121 capped midfielder.

Santos have produced names like Neymar and Pele through their history and Schweinsteiger could be tempted to join a club with such rich history, if other options don’t materialise.

Man Utd to launch Lindelof bid

Meanwhile, a potential arrival in Manchester could come in the form of Sweden centre back Victor Lindelof. Mourinho has supposedly made his first steps to signing the Benfica defender according to reports out of Portugal.

United seem to be in the driving seat and have apparently made initial contact over a move for the 22-year-old in the winter transfer window, while scouts have been present at recent games to watch Lindelof.

Former national teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic commented on his compatriot recently saying: “I think he’s good enough for the big clubs out there.”

Lindelof started all three games at Euro 2016 and the Red Devils could have competition from Inter Milan and PSG for his signature.

Mandanda eyes exit?

Steve Mandanda signed a three year contract at Crystal Palace this summer after eight seasons at the Stade Velodrome with Marseille, but is already eyeing a move away, reports suggest.

Palace are experiencing a truly awful 2016, despite spending big in recent transfer windows and Mandanda could jump ship in favour of a ‘bigger club’. Talking to French TV, the Ligue 1 winning keeper said: “I had wanted to change and discover the Premier League…go to a bigger club in England? That depends on my performances.”
