Allez Vic weighted to strike at Ludlow

Allez Vic looks decent value to cash-in on a drop in the weights and land the 3m handicap chase on today’s card at Ludlow (13.40).

The Evan Williams trained gelding was last successful when landing a handicap hurdle at Uttoxter in February 2015 off a mark of 120, and although yet to get his head in front over fences has posted some solid efforts in defeat.

They include a 4 1/2 length second to Ruben Cotter in a competitive class 2 contest at Kempton off 126 and a decent third to Cloudy Copper in a class 3 at Ffos Las off 125.

Allez Vic is now able to race in this lower grade class 4 contest off just 110, a career-low.

It gives the 10-year-old outstanding claims at the weights on the pick of his form, especially if the fitting of the cheekpieces for the first time have the desired effect.

Allez Vic should also be spot on to do himself justice following a recent pipe-opener at Chepstow when a not knocked about eighth of 16, and hails from a yard in terrific form at present.

Mac Gregory can complete double for Williams

Mac Gregory caught the eye last time out and looks to hold leading claims of providing trainer Williams with a quick-fire double in the 2m 5f handicap hurdle (14.10).

The five-year-old won a debut in a bumper at the track and has subsequently shaped with plenty of promise in four runs over the obstacles.

After going down by just a length when runner-up to New Member on seasonal reappearance, again at this venue, Mac Gregory was given far too much to do on handicap debut over 2m at Cheltenham when staying on late to finish a never nearer 10th of 18 to Wildmoor Boy in a hot class 3 contest.

He is now able to race in this less competitive class 4 affair off 1lb lower and looks the type who should have plenty more to offer, especially now stepped up significantly in trip.

This is also a weak contest for the grade lacking any real strength in depth and everything looks in place for Mac Gregory to open his account over the obstacles.

Createur worth a punt in Plumpton best bets

Createur has been given a chance by the assessor and looks worth a wager at the odds on offer in the 2m handicap hurdle on today’s card at Plumpton (14.30).

The gelding had some fairly useful form on the flat when trained in France and after joining Tim Vaughan ran very well on his first try over the obstacles when a five length runner-up to the now 117-rated Perspicace at Taunton.

Createur then failed to build on that when finishing a distant fourth to Mountain Fighter at Fakenham before putting in a much improved effort when a staying on 8 1/4 length third to the now 140-rated Altruism at Cartmel.

That form reads well in the context of this contest and, prior to disappointing when last seen in action, Createur had finished a solid second to Bulletproof on handicap debut at Exeter off a mark of 104.

The five-year-old now returns to action off a reduced rating of 100 and that gives Createur a big shout at the weights if ready to go at the first time of asking following a lengthy break.

Bottom-weight Burgess Dream fancied to open account

Burgess Dream can make the most of the weight he receives from his rivals to register a deserved success in the 3m 1f handicap chase (15.00).

The Anna Newton-Smith trained seven-year-old is yet to get his head in front in 19 starts under rules, but has posted some solid efforts to finish runner-up on three occasions over course and distance.

They include when beaten 10 lengths in this contest 12 months ago by Leith Hill Legasi, and Burgess Dream now meets that rival on 22lb better terms.

It gives the gelding major claims from a handicapping perspective off bottom-weight of just 10st 1lb.

Burgess Dream also now switches back to the larger obstacles following two solid fourth placed efforts over hurdles and another plus is that he has the services of promising young jockey Charlie Deutsch in the saddle who takes off another handy 5lb with his claim.
