There’s one final day of action around Prestbury Park, so Coral horse racing experts give their Cheltenham The Open day 3 tips, which include Ballyandy odds and Three Stars bets.

Ballyandy odds among Cheltenham The Open day 3 tips

The Open meeting at Cheltenham comes to a close on Sunday, but begins with a competitive renewal of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle Trial (12:45) where Ballyandy odds suggest he will take all the beating.

Nigel Twiston-Davies saddles this previous course and distance winner for his second start of the season. Last time out, Ballyandy stretched his legs with a decent runner-up finish behind Moon Racer, who re-opposes here, at Perth in a two mile novices’ hurdle.

The five-year-old product of Kayf Tara did prove his ability when recording a career best effort to win the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival earlier this year in dramatic fashion.

With Sam Twiston-Davies on board that day, he was noted for a gutsy, never-say-die attitude which saw him staying on inside the final furlong to get the result, but it was all heart and he will have to showcase more of that desire if he is to reverse placings with Moon Racer.

Moon Racer supported by the market

Coral ambassador Tom Scudamore’s sole mount at Cheltenham this Sunday, rates as the obvious danger in the opener. The early betting chalks Moon Racer up as the most likely winner of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle Trial.

A course and distance victor, Moon Racer is an alternative to Ballyandy odds after catching the eye when taking the Champion Bumper in 2015.

When last seen in action, Moon Racer beat Ballyandy in his first start over hurdles in that aforementioned head-to-head in Scotland. He is thus a credible alternative when it comes to Cheltenham The Open day 3 tips.

This looks to be sizing up as a real shoot-out between Champion Bumper winners Ballyandy and Moon Racer, but there is very little between the pair on paper. That leaves punters potentially wise to side with the better price and take their chances.

Three Stars worth a bet in Arkle Trial

Second on the six-race card is the Arkle Challenge Trophy Trial (13:20), and Three Stars looks the brightest prospect in the absence of 2016 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Altior.

Henry de Bromhead and Richard Johnson join forces on this progressive six-year-old, who arrives at Prestbury Park chasing a hat-trick, following successes at Listowel and Punchestown in September and October.

That is solid form and a run at Cheltenham gives Three Stars the perfect chance to shine with Altior absent.

Champion jockey Richard Johnson was on board last year’s winner, Garde La Victoire, and seeks a hat-trick of his own, having won on Dunraven Storm the time before. That does nothing but add weight to the considerable claims of Three Stars.
