2016 ATP World Tour Finals tips

British tennis could hardly be more proud as both Murray brothers, Jamie in the doubles and new men’s singles world number one Andy, are competing at the 2016 ATP World Tour Finals on home soil.

Jamie is partnered by Brazilian player Bruno Soares, with the pair lifting two Grand Slam titles this season, so they are worthy joint-favourites at the 7/2 on offer with Coral to add this tournament to their trophy haul.

Andy Murray odds to win the men’s singles, meanwhile, put him a narrow 13/10 favourite ahead of Novak Djokovic at 11/8, the Serbian racket star the Scot has replaced on top of the world rankings.

Murray brothers outright double

Given Andy’s Wimbledon, Olympics and even more recent successes on the hard court surface he’ll play on at the O2 Arena in London, backing a Murray brothers outright double is no longer just a patriotic punt.

A tempting £10 wager on Andy in the singles and Jamie with Soares to secure the doubles returns £103.50! It’s splendid value given the Slams and Tour titles won by the Murray brothers.

For punters looking more to the short term, however, our tennis experts also provide 2016 ATP World Tour Finals tips for the first men’s singles fixtures…

Djokovic to win Thiem first set 6-3

First up in individual action is world number two Djokovic, who faces improving Austrian player Dominic Thiem for the third time this year in the Ivan Lendl Group opener on Sunday.

As the Serbs hold a 100 per cent record over Thiem, punters won’t be surprised to see Djokovic made a firm 1/8 match favourite and 4/11 for yet another straight sets victory.

If betting on Djokovic v Thiem, there is value in siding with the Serb to take the first set 6-3 at a tasty 10/3, as both previous hard court encounters saw their opener end with that precise scoreline.

Raonic to beat Monfils 2-1

Perhaps the tightest of the opening games, and thus the most difficult match to give 2016 ATP World Tour Finals tips for, is Gael Monfils facing Wimbledon runner-up Milos Raonic.

Canadian representative Raonic took two of the three meetings with Monfils earlier this season, yet the Frenchman beat him last time they faced off. All of these encounters came on hard surfaces.

This clash looks like going to a decider and the form of the Australian Open result may be revealing in this regard. Back Raonic to win, but drop a set to Monfils at awesome odds of 11/4.

Nishikori to win first set against Wawrinka

Moving on to Monday and the John McEnroe Group, there’s another close to call contest between US Open champ Stan Wawrinka and Japanese tennis ace Kei Nishikori.

Splitting two meetings this season means the betting markets don’t give too much away, but one value punt definitely looks to be nifty Nishikori to draw first blood.

Both battles this year, again on hard courts, saw late-blooming Swiss star Wawrinka drop the first set. Side with Nishikori, then, at 5/6 to take a 1-0 lead.

Murray to beat Cilic in three sets

If taking Andy Murray odds, punters should not be too worried by the fact first 2016 ATP World Tour Finals opponent Marin Cilic beat the Briton last time out.

A more encouraging sign is that Murray has run out a winner in three sets on the last two occasions Croatia’s Cilic came to play him in London.

While these encounters were on the grass courts of Queen’s Club, that shock loss last time out came on a hard surface, but Murray is full of confidence after climbing to the top of the tennis rankings.

Backing another 2-1 win on home soil for Andy over Cilic appeals at an attractive 11/4 price among our 2016 ATP World Tour Finals tips.
