Rumour Reel: Thiago Silva to Chelsea, while Guardiola goes for Kieran Tierney
Coral’s rumour reel
Antonio Conte’s recent defensive woes have been well publicised, and it appears the he has wasted no time in looking for reinforcements, with Thiago Silva to Chelsea linked in today’s back pages.
The Stamford Bridge side have already been linked with a move for Juventus centre back Leonardo Bonucci this week. But now a new target is being teased in the tabloids…
Thiago Silva to Chelsea
Conte moved for David Luiz and Marcos Alonso in the summer, but both have failed to make any real impact.
Luiz is typically inconsistent, while John Terry is ageing and Gary Cahill continues his torrid form. Therefore the need for a defensive rock is paramount.

Thiago Silva to Chelsea is linked in today’s back pages.
Silva became the most expensive defender in history with his move from AC Milan to PSG in 2012, before Luiz became the priciest property, but the French club are yet to open negotiations over a new contract.
His current deal expires this summer, meaning the defender can begin talking to potential clubs in January, with which Chelsea appearing to be one.
Silva’s agent also recently added fuel to the fire by saying: “Chelsea are a big club, and the English league is the best in the world.”
Guardiola goes for Kieran Tierney?
Manchester City’s new boss Pep Guardiola was reportedly impressed by Kieran Tierney’s display against City in the Champions League. So, the Catalan coach is now reportedly keeping close tabs on the Scottish 19-year-old.

After impressing against Man City, Guardiola is keen on the Scotland international.
Rumour has it City are looking to bring in a new left back this summer. Gael Clichy is out of contract next summer and Aleksandar Kolarov no longer a spring chicken.
So, flying full back Tierney would fit nicely into Guardiola’s system with neat passing and clever movement.
The Sky Blues have built a strong relationship with Celtic over the years, with Patrick Roberts the latest to go between the two on loan.
However, City may face competition from Arsenal. Arsene Wenger has scouted the player for around 18 months – according to reports.
Mertesacker Bremen bound?
Werder Bremen are hoping to re-sign Per Mertesacker if the German giant fails to sign a new contract at Arsenal.
The World Cup winner has been sidelined with a knee injury since July and could be on his way out of the Emirates.

Plagued by injuries, Mertesacker could return to Germany.
Shkodran Mustafi has taken the German’s place and impressed since his Arsenal arrival, forging a good understanding with Laurent Koscielny.
Mertesacker played for Bremen before signing for Arsenal, but could opt for boyhood club Hannover 96 in Germany’s second division to end his playing career.
