Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola may have kicked England goalie Hart to the curb, but Blues boss Antonio Conte made a return to Turin at the weekend where he witnessed the Etihad exile in net. Torino beat Fiorentina 2-1.

Manchester United, meanwhile, could be looking at bringing in some competition for Luke Shaw in the form of Benfica left Alex Grimaldo, according to reports.

Despite an apparent release clause of £51m in his contract with the Lisbon giants, the 21-year-old Spain youth international has been highly-rated for a number of years.

Born in Valencia, Grimaldo spent time in the Mestalla’s academy as well as at Barcelona where he played for the B team.

Red Devils fans will fondly remember diminutive full back Denis Irwin, and similar pocket rocket Grimaldo is thought to be being scouted with a view to Jose Mourinho’s men tabling a bid for him.
