The Toffees already boosted their rearguard in the summer, most notably with the impressive deal for Wales international captain Ashley Williams from Swansea City, but they could oversee another high-profile arrival.
Koeman reportedly sees the 22-year-old as a potential star at Goodison Park, having impressed in Portugal so far this current campaign.
The Portugal Under-21 centre back is seen by the Merseysiders as an ideal replacement for John Stones, who departed for £50m to Man City last summer, though they could face competition from AC Milan and Chelsea too.
