Davis Cup teammates Murray and Edmund have actually faced each other once before, at the Queen’s Club Championships earlier this year and at this same quarters stage.

The current ATP world number two triumphed that day, but South African-born Yorkshireman Edmund was able to grab the second set to enforce a decider.

Murray v Edmund set betting odds too tasty not to take!

Scotsman Murray of course went on to win the tournament for a record fifth time, but the signs were there that the Englishman could one day be amongst the elite.

Edmund’s ranking has improved this year and he is now up to 54 in the world after encouraging performances at the likes of Queen’s and the US Open, where he beat some top names.

Murray is targeting the ATP number one spot in the near future.

Murray, on the other hand, has stayed at number two, but is fast approaching Novak Djokovic. He is now just around 4,700 points off the defending champion Serb, who pulled out of this event.

That means that Murray can gain another 1000 points on Djokovic if he wins the China Open. So, he’ll be determined to see off Edmund, despite having had a packed schedule over the summer. One of Alexander Zverev or David Ferrer will then be his semi-finals opponent.

What are you waiting for then punters? Take this tasty 7/2 Murray v Edmund set betting price while you can!
