Annie Alainn odds are among Hereford tips and Plumpton bets for October 31 put forward by Coral horse racing experts.

There’s jumps action this Monday, so Coral horse racing experts give their Hereford tips and Plumpton bets for October 31!

Annie Alainn odds attractive at Hereford

Annie Alainn hinted at a return to form last time out, so looks decent value to cash-in on a drop in the weights and get back to winning ways in the 2m 3f handicap hurdle on today’s card at Hereford (16:00).

The mare had some fair form to her name in Ireland when trained by Thomas Mullins, winning a a 13-runner handicap hurdle at Wexford back in April off a mark of 91 before going on to finish third in her next two starts off 97.

Annie Alainn then joined Fergal O’Brien and failed to sparkle in her first three starts for her new handler, having started life off on a mark of 105.

However, the assessor has been quick to cut the nine-year-old plenty of slack, so she is now able to race off a reduced rating of just 90.

That is 1lb lower than when last victorious and gives Annie Alainn major claims at the weights on the pick of her form.

The daughter of Beneficial also comes into the on the back of an improved effort when fourth at Uttoxeter and hails from a yard in terrific shape at present. Annie Alainn odds thus appeal here.

Midnight Gypsy worth an each-way wager

Midnight Gypsy looks on a potentially handy mark and decent each-way value in the other 2m 3f handicap hurdle on the seven-race card (15:30).

The Stuart Kittow trained mare ran well to be placed twice in bumpers, including when runner-up to Epic Eethel in a 10-runner contest at Worcester.

Midnight Gypsy finished 6 1/4 lengths in front of the fourth home Time Is Money who has since gone on to taste success over hurdles to be rated 110.

Although Midnight Gypsy has yet to make the frame in four starts over the obstacles, she didn’t shape too badly two starts back when fifth of 15 to Double Court on handicap debut at Newton Abbot off an opening mark of 81. She is now able to race off just 77.

That gives her major claims from a handicapping perspective judged on her bumper form and Midnight Gypsy is a free-running sort, who could prove tough to peg back off just 10st 3lb on a sharp track which should suit her running style.

Shouting Hill can make himself heard at Plumpton

Shouting Hill posted an much improved effort last time out and looks weighted to open his account under rules in the 2m 4f handicap hurdle on today’s card at Plumpton (16:10).

This gelding was a point winner in Ireland and ran by far his best race since joining trainer Johnny Farrelly when third of 12 to Court King at Bangor last month.

After racing in mid-division, Shouting Hill made good headway four from home to take up the running between the last two flights.

The six-year-old held every chance approaching the last before weakening late on to be beaten 10 lengths.

It was an eye-catching effort and and Shouting Hill is now able to race off 3lb lower.

If building on that run it makes the six-year-old look handicapped to take all the beating.

Lots to like about Druids Lodge

In the 2m 4f handicap hurdle (15:10), Druids Lodge looks good value at the odds on offer to provide in-form trainer Neil Mulholland with another winner.

The gelding shaped well on a couple of occasions in bumpers when trained by Don Cantillon, including when a 4 1/4 length third at Musselburgh to Moonshine Ridge.

Moonshine Ridge has gone on to win three times on the flat and the runner-up Sand Blast, who finished 2 3/4 lengths in front of the selection, has also gone on to score over hurdles to be rated 118.

That suggests an opening handicap mark of 104 for Druids Lodge is exploitable and, although yet to sparkle in two runs over hurdles since joining Mulholland, those outings haven’t been devoid of promise.

Druids Lodge is now fitted with the cheekpieces for the first time and also looks a potential improver now going down the handicap route.

Wayne Hutchinson in the plate is also an advantage, as he has a 25 per cent strike rate when teaming up with the yard in the past 12 months.
