Fastest ever Premier League goals after Pedro strike
Having taken charge of Manchester United in the summer after previously being dismissed by Chelsea, Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge was always going to produce drama.
The self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ endured a disappointing start to his return to west London, though, with his Red Devils side calamitously conceding after just 30 seconds of action thanks to a swift strike from Blues forward Pedro Rodriguez.
After the Blues’ eventual 4-0 victory, their odds have been cut to 13/2 with Coral to go all the way and claim the title this season, as many of their rivals slipped up on a fascinating matchweek nine.

Jesus Navas v Spurs, 2013 – 13 seconds
There have coincidentally been several Premier League goals clocked after just 13 seconds, though Manchester City attacker Navas’ was probably the most outstanding, as he clinically chipped Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in 2013.
The Spaniard sits alongside both Chris Sutton and Dwight Yorke in having dispatched with only 13 seconds gone, with the two strikers having netted for Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa respectively in 1995.
Asmir Begovic v Southampton, 2013 – 13 seconds
Another player to unexpectedly open the scoring after 13 seconds in a top tier encounter is former Stoke City shot stopper Begovic, with the current Chelsea goalkeeper having incredibly struck past the Saints in 2013.
The goalie received a backpass from his defence and proceeded to thump the ball over a whopping 91 metres, seeing his clearance bizarrely bounce over opposite number Artur Boric to secure a shock moment in the Premier League.
Mark Viduka v Charlton, 2001 – 11.1 seconds
With only 11.1 seconds gone in a clash between Leeds United and Charlton Athletic back in 2001, Elland Road goalscoring hero Viduka managed to get on the end of an Alan Smith flick-on and fire in a super quick top-flight opener.
Sasa Ilic was the goalkeeping victim in this case as the Australian marksman fired home for the Yorkshire outfit during much more promising times for the club.
Alan Shearer v Man City, 2003 – 10.4 seconds
Coral ambassador Shearer boasts being the Premier League’s all-time record hitman, but the Newcastle United legend also claimed a piece of history in 2003 with a 10.4 second strike in a meeting with Man City.
The former Toon sharpshooter’s goal still stands as the second quickest in the division’s history, as he charged down an attempted clearance from keeper Carlo Nash and subsequently helped himself by tucking home into an open net.
Ledley King v Bradford, 2000 – 9.9 seconds
When thinking of the quickest ever scorers in the top-flight, immediate thoughts switch to the world class strikes there have been down the years, but don’t be fooled in future pub quizzes!
The fastest ever Premier League goal actually came from a defender, when former Spurs centre back King fired in against Bradford City back in 2000. His strike after the turn of the Millennium was a superb effort, picking the ball up in midfield and driving home past a helpless Mathew Clarke from 30 yards.
