Menorah each-way worth a wager among Charlie Hall Chase tips
Menorah each-way looks decent value at 11/1 with Coralg for the Grade 2 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on Saturday (15:20).
Philip Hobbs’ 11-year-old has been a terrific servant over the years, winning 14 times and being placed on eight occasions from 40 starts under rules.
Those successes include an impressive victory in the 2014 running of this contest. Menorah came from off the pace to take up the running two from home and easily beat Tanquin De Sueil by four lengths.
Although not at his best in last year’s renewal when pulled-up behind Cue Card, the son of King’s Theatre made a series of costly errors and is far better than his showing that day.
Terrific effort at Sandown
Menorah also failed to shine next time up when a distant third to Don Poli at Aintree but, after being given a break, looked as good as ever when beating Valseur Lido in a Grade 2 contest at Sandown.
The gelding showed tremendous battling qualities to score by a length. It was a terrific effort in giving 5lb and a beating to an up-and-coming chaser, who had previously finished a fine second to Vautour in the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
Judged on that running, Menorah looks a big player in this and his overall record fresh is good, so an absence of 125 is not going to be an issue.
The selection is also likely to get the good ground he relishes to be seen at his best. Given that he doesn’t stand much racing these days, Menorah is sure to be tuned to the minute by Hobbs.

This, in effect, is his Gold Cup and everything looks in place for to run a big race in a market dominated by Cue Card.
Colin Tizzard’s star chaser is odds-on to retain his crown and is undoubtedly a worthy red-hot favourite to do so.
The 10-year-old was successful by 3 3/4 lengths in the race 12 months ago and went on to enjoy terrific Grade 1 victories in the Betfair Chase at Haydock, the King George VI Chase at Kempton and Betfred Bowl at Aintree.
That form makes him the one to beat, but at the odds on offer he looks plenty short enough. Menorah, meanwhile, looks well worth an each-way wager.
