Magic Circle each-way value among Cesarewitch ante post tips

The big betting race on Saturday is the Cesarewitch at Newmarket (16.10) and Magic Circle looks decent each-way value at 16/1 with Coral in the ante post betting for the ultra-competitive 2m 2f handicap.

Trained by Ralph Beckett, the gelding has a progressive profile and goes into the contest having won five of his 12 starts.

In the last of those successes over 2m at York, Magic Circle travelled sweetly throughout before making stealthy headway two from home to take up the running at the furlong marker.

The four-year-old then stretched clear and stayed on strongly to beat Two Jabs by 2 3/4 lengths.

It was a most taking performance and Magic Circle hit the line hard suggesting that the extra two furlongs in the Cesarewitch would hold no fears.

Versatile as regards ground

The well-bred son of Makfi got put up 7lb for that victory but ran well of his revised rating of 97 when fourth of 17 to Intense Tango over 1m 6f at Haydock.

Magic Circle stayed on nicely to be beaten five lengths and looks sure to be suited by the step back up in distance.

His three starts at 2m or over has resulted in two successes and Magic Circle remains relatively unexposed as a stayer and open to further progress.

Another plus is that Magic Circle is versatile as regards ground having won on good, good-to-soft and soft going.

Beckett also has his team in good form at present and Magic Circle looks to have the ideal profile for the race and plenty going for him in typically wide-open renewal.
