Five US Open 2016 quarter-finals tips
We’re approaching the business end of the US Open as the last Grand Slam of the tennis calendar is into the quarter-finals.
Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Serena Williams, the sport’s star attractions, are still alive and kicking in the men’s and women’s singles draws, so what are the best bets from among the last eight action?
Coral tennis experts give their top five US Open 2016 quarter-finals tips for you to consider…
Djokovic to beat Tsonga in straight sets

A 3-0 victory for the men’s singles top seed is among the best Djokovic v Tsonga bets to take.
First up is ATP world number one Djokovic, who tussles with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and the Serbian star shouldn’t find his French foe too much trouble if recent history is any indicator.
Deadly Djokovic has won six of the last seven hard court meetings between the two without dropping a set, leaving Tsonga with it all to do to upset the odds.
Siding with a straight sets victory for the Serb, then, has its own rewards at a tempting 10/11. It arguably should be a shorter price among Djokovic v Tsonga bets than that for a 3-0 win here.
Serena to win Halep opener 6-3

An outright win in the women’s singles at Flushing Meadows for Serena Williams would set a new Open Era Grand Slam record.
WTA top woman Williams holds a dominant 7-1 head-to-head record over her quarter-final opponent Simona Halep, leaving the Romanian staring down her racket at another defeat.
Two of the last four hard court clashes between Serena and the Eastern European player that stands in her way of making the Flushing Meadows semis have seen Williams win the first set 6-3.
Add in the fact that Serena has won half of her matches at this year’s US Open with that same scoreline in the opener, and a fantastic 4/1 price says Williams will go a set up courtesy of a 6-3 result again.
Del Potro to defeat Wawrinka in four sets

Juan Martin del Potro looks well worth a punt to beat Stan Wawrinka in four sets.
Argentina’s resurgent star and 2009 US Open men’s singles champion Juan Martin del Potro is performing on the big stage once again.
Third seed Stan Wawrinka will be no pushover for the dangerous wildcard, but he has already beaten the late-blooming Swiss player at a Grand Slam this season.
Del Potro’s victory at Wimbledon came in four sets, and the form of that contest despite a different surface here looks good because he’s dropped a set in three of his last four victories over Wawrinka.
A tempting 3/1 price says Del Potro will defeat Wawrinka 3-1 again, and those terrific odds mean we just had to include them in our US Open 2016 quarter-finals tips.
Kerber to win Vinci first set 6-2

WTA world number two Angelique Kerber has been hugely successful on hard courts this season.
Australian Open women’s singles champion Angelique Kerber is seeded second for this Grand Slam, and goes up against the 2015 beaten Flushing Meadows finalist Roberta Vinci in the last eight.
With their career meetings tied at two apiece, it’s safer to look at the set betting with Germany’s Kerber having recorded both her previous victories in this fixture by a 6-2 opening set scoreline.
Starting well in all her US Open matches so far means it is more than possible that Kerber will repeat that in this match. She’s 4/1 to win the first set 6-2 against Vinci again.
Murray to nip Nishikori 3-0

Andy Murray to beat Kei Nishikori in straight sets is another of our US Open 2016 quarter-finals tips.
Last, and by no means least, comes the British interest with ATP world number two Murray battling Far East tennis pin-up Kei Nishikori in the fourth men’s singles quarter-final.
Punters’ eyes should be drawn to their recent meeting in the Olympics semis on a similar surface in Brazil. Murray breezed past the Japanese ace in straight sets en route to a second Gold medal.
That form looks good here, and odds of 11/10 say Murray can best Nishikori 3-0 again in New York.
