Five US Open 2016 day 6 tips

Andy Murray and fellow British player Dan Evans have made the third round of the US Open men’s singles, but female compatriot Naomi Brady failed in her bid to join Johanna Konta at this stage in women’s draw.

With Murray an overwhelming odds-on 1/100 favourite to beat Paolo Lorenzi and Evans a massive 9/2 outsider to upset Stan Wawrinka, Coral’s US Open 2016 day 6 tips take the focus away from patriotic punts at this Grand Slam.

There’s value to be had elsewhere, however, so read on to see what our experts put forward as the best bets from Flushing Meadows for this Saturday, including a couple of tennis accas…

Over 2.5 sets in Radwanska v Garcia

Agniezska Radwanska odds for there to be over 2.5 sets in her third round match with Caroline Garcia are among our US Open 2016 day 6 tips.

Agniezska Radwanska odds for there to be over 2.5 sets in her third round match with Caroline Garcia are among our US Open 2016 day 6 tips.

We start, then, with Brady’s conqueror and former Wimbledon finalist, Agnieszka Radwanska. Seeded fourth in the women’s draw, the Pole is rated more than 20 places above third round foe Caroline Garcia.

Both of their hard court clashes have gone the distance before, and three of the four career meetings overall, so that suggests this will be a close contest.

Odds of 7/4 also appeal for over 2.5 sets in their encounter. Radwanska is 11/4 to take it 2-1 and France’s Garcia is 11/2 for victory in three sets, but the safer bet is to back them to go to a decider again.

Ferrer to win the first set v Del Potro

David Ferrer has won the first set in four of his last five meetings with Juan Martin del Potro.

David Ferrer has won the first set in four of his last five meetings with Juan Martin del Potro.

Men’s singles 11th seed David Ferrer faces dangerous wildcard Juan Martin del Potro in the last 32, and has won four of the last five head-to-heads between them, including two meetings on hard courts.

That should make a 5/2 price in the outright match betting on Ferrer seem like terrific value, but Argentina’s Del Potro looks to have well and truly put his injury problems behind him.

Although made to work for a five-set victory over Fabio Fognini last time out, Ferrer did take the opening set. Del Potro, meanwhile, was pushed all the way to a tiebreak by Steve Johnson.

It may be a safer bet to take 7/4 for Ferrer to win the first set, taking the outright result of his Del Potro duel out of the equation.

Pliskova to beat Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets

Another of our US Open 2016 day 6 tips is Karolina Pliskova to beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets.

Another of our US Open 2016 day 6 tips is Karolina Pliskova to beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets.

Karolina Pliskova is seeded 10th in the women’s singles draw – seven spots ahead of last 32 opponent Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova – and the Czech holds a 100 per cent record over the Russian in three meetings.

All of those encounters have been on hard surfaces like the US Open courts. Pliskova also won those battles in straight sets, so side with her to win again 2-0 at 11/10.

Saturday sixfold acca on men’s singles

Half a dozen odds-on favourites combine to give a price of just better than 3/1* to all win in the men’s singles, headlined by Wawrinka (1/7).

Stan Wawrinka is an anchor leg in one of our terrific tennis accas for Saturday's Flushing Meadows action.

The Swiss is joined by fellow seeds Nick Kyrgios (1/8), Kei Nishikori (1/7), Grigor Dimitrov (1/4), Dominic Thiem (1/3) and Ivo Karlovic (4/6). All six should come through against opponents that should pose few, if any problems.

We’ve also got another of our tasty tennis accas to tempt you…

Women’s singles favourites fourfold

Sticking with accumulators, a current price better than 5/2* on four firm favourites in the women’s singles all to win is on offer.

Led by outright tournament fancy Serena Williams’ sister Venus (3/10), she combines with fifth seed Simona Halep (1/9), Carla Suarez Navarro (1/2) and Croatian teenage talent Ana Konjuh (4/6) to form this fantastic fourfold acca.

All these women should win comfortably with easy-looking third round fixtures on paper.
