Coral’s bet of the day

  • Three of the last five encounters the sides have been level at half-time
  • Barcelona boast perfect this term
  • Catalan club scored seven goals in two games

Barcelona 13/4 to be level at half-time in home win

Luis Enrique’s La Liga champions Barcelona will be out to continue their blemish free record against newly-promoted Basque Country club Alaves.

The omens bode well for Barca in this home clash, after remaining unbeaten in this fixture since 2002.

However, it is the game’s remarkable record of being level at half-time that should catch the eye for punters.

In three of the side’s previous five encounters, the clubs have been locked in a stalemate at the break – an astonishing record considering Barcelona’s tendency to fly out the traps.

With Alaves’ solid defence, only conceding one against La Liga hopefuls Atletico Madrid, a 13/4 price with Coral for Barca to be level at half-time and then find another gear and ultimately triumph, looks superb value.

Catalan class to come through

The reigning title champions are blessed with an embarrassment of riches going forward, and have recently strengthen further with the addition of Valencia’s Paco Alcacer, who scored 15 goals in all competitions last term.

Paco could also be in line for a debut appearance, with the possibility of last year’s 100 goal combination of Lionel Messi (recently declared fit) and Luis Suarez starting from the bench with the Champions League in mind.

Barca’s duo are likely to come on in the game’s latter stages if the fixture remains tight.

Mauricio Pellegrino is an accomplished manager and will set out his team to be their trademark, compact, tough to beat best.

However, with an Enrique roster oozing quality, a newly acquired striker eager to make his mark and two of the world’s best players ready to come off the bench or even start, the Catalan club’s class should shine through in a tricky test.

Barca have scored seven goals in two games and are likely to power past Alaves as the game progresses.
