Bedrock holds solid claims at Nottingham

Bedrock is right at the top of his game at present and can provide red-hot trainer William Haggas with another winner in the 1m 2f handicap on today’s card at Nottingham (15.30).

The three-year-old got back to winning ways in first time cheekpieces at Haydock back in June then lost little in defeat off 3lb higher when beaten 4 1/2 length by Scarlet Dragon in a six-runner contest at Newbury.

Although no match for the easy winner, Bedrock stuck to the task well against a thriving sort who has since gone on to land a competitive affair at York in good style.

The son of Fasnet Rock backed that up with a fine 1/2 length second to Toulson at Sandown 14 days ago, looking all over the winner when taking up the running two from home, travelling strongly before getting collared close home.

Although now 1lb higher in the weights, Bedrock is clearly thriving at present and looks the type who should have even more to offer.

Other pluses are that the stable is operating at an incredible strike rate of just over 34 per cent for this month and Bedrock has the services of title-chasing Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle.

Rosie Royce ready to bloom

Rosie Royce has shaped with plenty of promise in two starts this season and looks the answer to the 5f handicap that brings proceedings to a close (17.10).

After finishing fourth over 6f at this venue when fading late on, the Henry Candy trained filly posted a similar effort when a 3/4 length fourth at Windsor over the same trip.

Rosie Royce led at the furlong marker in the latter until being unable to find any extra close home and the drop back to the minimum trip looks sure to suit.

The three-year-old also remains lightly-raced and open to further improvement after just six starts and this looks a nice opportunity for Rosie Royce to get off the mark.

Nottingham tips

14.00: Her Terms
14.30: Mistress Quickly
15.00: Percy Thrower
15.30: Bedrock (NAP)
16.05: Master Gunner
16.40: Outrage
17.10: Rosie Royce (NB)

Final Assault primed for Bangor battle

Final Assault is back down to a handy mark and looks decent value to make a winning return to action in the 2m 4f handicap chase on today’s card at Bangor (15.10).

The Lucinda Russell trained gelding opened his chasing account over course and distance back in January 2015 when easily beating Gootoknow by 10 lengths off a mark of 120.

Final Assault was hit with a 12lb rise for that facile success, but ran well of his revised mark of 132 when a four length runner-up to Fine Rightly at Ayr.

Lucinda Russell will hope to earn some success with Final Assault.

The seven-year-old went on to finish a solid nine length runner-up to the very smart Oscar Rock at Kelso and also ran well after a break when beaten just a length into third behind Village Vic at Wetherby back in October.

Final Assault then got back to winning ways at Ayyr when scoring by 4 1/2 lengths off 130 but after being put up to 139 failed to trouble the judge in five subsequent outings.

However, the son of Beneficial now returns to action off a reduced rating of 132 and that looks more than exploitable on the pick of his form.

Final Assault also has a good record fresh and everything looks in place for a huge run.

It’s all about Supply And Demand

In-form trainer Jonjo O’Neill does well with his runners at the track and Supply And Demand can provide him with another winner in the 2m novices’ hurdle (16.20).

The Jackdaws Castle handler has a strike rate of just over 23.5 per cent at the Welsh venue in the past 12 months and in Supply And Demand has a five-year-old who shaped with bags of promise when sixth to Captain Chaos on debut at Uttoxeter back in November.

After being held-up well off the pace, the son of Scorpion made good headway three from home before weakening approaching the last to be beaten just over 11 lengths.

Supply And Demand was given a very tender introduction and the form of the race has worked out well.

The winner has gone on to score again since and the second, fourth and fifth have also gone on to taste success.

Supply And Demand is sure to come on a bundle for that experience, is bred to be above average, and returns to action in what looks very winnable class 4 contest.

Bangor tips

14.10: Tempuran
14.40: Atlantic Gold
15.10: Final Assault (NAP)
15.45: Whatsthatallabout
16.20: Supply And Demand (NB)
16.50: Gabriel Oats

Glorious Legend has plenty going for him at Salisbury

Glorious Legend has a progressive profile and looks to hold outstanding claims of landing the 1m 6f handicap on today’s card at Salisbury (17.00).

The Ed Walker trained three-year-old has posted three solid efforts since going down the handicap route and comes into the contest on the back of a career-best run when a 3/4 length third of nine to Fearless Lad at Lingfield.

Glorious Legend looked the likely winner when taking up the running a furlong from home and stuck to the task well after getting headed close home.

Glorious Legend can provide Ed Walker with a winner.

Glorious Legend can provide Ed Walker with a winner.

It was a performance which suggested his time was near and a 1lb rise in the weights looks more than fair.

Glorious Legend is also bred to appreciate cut in the ground, and with Tom Marquand in the saddle and the prospect of more to come this looks a nice opportunity for him open his account.

Storm Rock each-way value

Storm Rock has been given a big chance by the assessor and looks decent each-way value in the extended 1m 1f handicap (15.55).

The Harry Dunlop trained colt progressed throughout last season, scoring on soft ground at Leicester by 2 3/4 lengths off a mark of 87 before running a blinder of a revised rating of 102 when beaten just a neck by You’re Fired under similar conditions at Nottingham.

Storm Rock also shaped better than the bare result suggests when ninth of 22 in the Lincoln at Doncaster on seasonal reappearance, and although the four-year-old has failed to fire in four subsequent outings, he is now back down to his last winning mark of 87 as a result.

That makes the son of Rock Of Gibraltar a big player if bouncing back to anything like his best and the soft underfoot conditions will hold no fears.

Salisbury tips

13.50: Make Time
14.20: Koeman
14.50: Eqtiraan
15.20: Pettochside
15.55: Storm Rock (E/W)
16.30: Ivanhoe
17.00: Glorious Legend (NAP)
