American speedball Aurelia to blitz Cheveley Park rivals

Lady Aurelia looks a worthy favourite to get the better of Queen Kindly and maintain her unbeaten record in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes on the final day of Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire meeting (14.55).

Trained in America by Wes Ward, the filly has won all three of her starts and was simply sensational in the second of those when landing the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.

After flying from the stalls, the daughter of Scat Daddy cruised along at the head of affairs in the hands of a motionless Frankie Dettori.

When the Italian rider did shake the reigns at the furlong marker, the response was electric and Lady Aurelia bounded clear in effortless fashion to slam Al Johrah by seven lengths.

It was one of the most devastating displays by a juvenile I have ever seen, and one which marked Lady Aurelia out as something really special.

Trainer in bullish mood

She has since gone on to land the Group 1 Prix Morny over 6f at Deauville in workmanlike style, although the 3/4 length margin does not tell the whole story as she became unbalanced when putting her foot in a whole a furlong from home.

The Cheveley Park Stakes looks likely to be a hotly contested race.

There is little doubt in my mind that Lady Aurelia is far better than she showed that day, and Ward reports her in tip top shape and ready to run “her best race ever”.

That is a very bullish statement given how awesome she looked at Royal Ascot and I fully expect Lady Aurelia to live up to her trainer’s expectations.

Queen Kindly the pick of the home team

Queen Kindly has a progressive profile and looks the obvious danger to Lady Aurelia in what looks a match on paper.

The Richard Fahey trained daughter of Frankel has won three of her four starts and was most impressive when landing the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York when last seen in action.

After racing close up behind the leaders, Queen Kindly was denied a clear run when making her move a furlong from home.

She then showed a tremendous attitude to force her way through a narrow gap, before quickening up smartly to beat Roly Poly by 3/4 of a length.

Queen Kindly was value for much more than the winning margin, but will need to improve again to trouble Lady Aurelia given that Roly Poly finished 14 lengths behind that rival when eighth in the Queen Mary.
