Five Italian Grand Prix tips

Following a thrilling race in Belgium, the Formula 1 season heads over to Monza for the Italian Grand Prix, with the drivers having showed no signs of rustiness in the recent return outing which Nico Rosberg prevailed in.

Despite the German steerer earning first place on the podium on Belgian soil, it was his teammate and reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton that took most of the plaudits for his impressive performance.

Having started at the back of the grid due to a penalty, Hamilton surged from that daunting position to claim third place, setting up what could be another epic race at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

So, ahead of the latest circuit in an exciting 2016 Driver’s Championship, Coral outline five Italian Grand Prix tips for punters to enjoy for Sunday’s action…

Rosberg to add Italy success to Belgium win

Defending world champion Hamilton currently leads his Mercedes teammate Rosberg by just nine points after his sublime drive in Belgium, though the latter German will be full of confidence after securing his sixth victory of the campaign.

Having earned success in the first race following the month-long summer break, Rosberg will enter proceedings on Italian soil as the 15/8 second-favourite to prevail at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

Both the Mercedes representatives have six GP wins so far this season, with only Ferrari’s teenage sensation Max Verstappen having triumphed, but Rosberg will take to the track with plenty of momentum.

Vettel to secure another podium finish

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has endured an indifference of form and fortunes throughout the campaign so far, having failed to win a Grand Prix to date, but has managed to earn a podium finish on five occasions.

The Ferrari steerer, along with Hamilton, has won three times in Italy and the two drivers are the most successful currently active F1 stars at the circuit.

With wins in all of 2008, 2011 and 2013, and a second-place finish last season at the testing Monza circuit, Vettel is a promising 6/4 to land another podium place this Sunday afternoon.

Hamilton to claim fastest lap again

Hamilton showcased the incredible speed of his Mercedes machine in Belgium, storming from back of the grid to impressively secure third position, and even recorded the fastest lap along the way.

The Briton also achieved this feat in last year’s Italian Grand Prix, making him 6/5 favourite to once again surge to the fastest lap time this weekend.

Alonso to earn another points finish

Experienced Spaniard Fernando Alonso knows all about the Italian Grand Prix, with the McLaren driver being a two-time winner at the circuit, emerging victorious in both 2007 and 2010.

The 35-year-old was able to get among the points in the returning Belgium track last time out, finishing in seventh position, an impressive achievement considering he began proceedings in 22nd in the grid.

Alonso is therefore a tasty 6/5 to once again get points on the board in Italy.

Ricciardo to be among podium finishers

Red Bull’s Australian steerer Daniel Ricciardo has been in impressive form this term and proved his threat to the Mercedes drivers last time out in Belgium, when he rallied to second position.

The 27-year-old, who is third in the overall standings, is on a high after that latest result and he will take to the Italian track at 6/5 for another podium finish, which he is more than capable of securing.
